As per the latest rumors and event invites, a more compact version of the Zenfone will also be on the way.

The slogan on the homepage on the Asus website mentions

Big on Performance. Compact in Size.

That means in Indonesian, it's roughly “Big in Performance. Compact size.” It clearly indicates that a smaller model will be introduced, perhaps calling it the Zenfone 8 Mini.

The event invites sent to some of the media out there include information such as a screen with dimensions of 148 mm x 69 mm, so that might be a hint for the size of the smaller model or what we are rumoring to be the Zenfone 8 Mini.

For information, the iPhone 12 Mini currently has dimensions of 131.5 mm x 64.2 mm. It's not much different, if the Zenfone 8 Mini really comes later, then the global smartphone market will get more mini smartphone variants back.

Based on the alleged benchmarks of the Asus Zenfone 8 Mini, the phone is expected to carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, and we assume that the other Zenfone 8 models will have the same chipset too.

Other Zenfone 8 information at a glance

We haven't heard too many rumors about the Zenfone 8 until now, but I think we were very impressed with what the Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro had to offer last year. It seems that Asus has now decided that a mini model is also needed.

Even though the Zenfone 7 series is not officially present in Indonesia, we think there are definitely some of you Zenfone fans who ordered the Zenfone 7 series directly from overseas marketplaces/e-commerce.

Then, considering that the Zenfone 7 was launched in August 2020, and now that its successor is arriving in May 2021 it looks a bit surprising, because it arrived earlier than usual. But it would make sense since last year's model was delayed due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

It will be interesting to see if the Zenfone 8 series phones will still sport the flip camera that rotates on top of the device, which functions as both the selfie camera and the rear camera.

However, there are also many rumors that the latest Zenfone series will use an in-screen selfie camera like other mainstream smartphones.

We will find out for sure on May 12, and of course we will definitely make a summary of the contents of the program, so just wait, Vicigers!
