What Are Pokemon?

In 1998, Nintendo, Creatures and Game Freak merged into one under the name The Pokemon Company.
This company manages licensing, production, release, marketing and collaboration for the Pokemon franchise in Asia and globally through The Pokemon Company International.

Pokemon itself is known as one of the best-selling media franchises of all time, from anime adaptations, films to merchandise.
Their spin-off game released for smartphones, namely Pokemon GO, has been downloaded by more than 1 billion users worldwide.
As of November 24 2017, more than 300 million Pokemon games have been sold worldwide for the portable game console and home game console categories.
This achievement succeeded in making Pokemon the third best-selling franchise title after the Mario and Tetris franchises.
