The OTP (One Time Password) code is a special code that is only valid for a certain period of time, usually used to increase data security. This code is generated by the application system and sent to the user during the login or transaction process.

The function of using OTP is as an addition to the password or biometric data used in certain applications.

Generally the verification code will be sent to the address e-mail, mobile number via, or WhatsApp. OTP codes are only created for a short period of time to be used immediately.

OTP codes can be used for various account-related activities, such as application logins, payment transactions, and accessing sensitive information.

Verification code is very important for your account security. However, often the OTP code does not appear in the SMS.

Here are some factors that cause the verification code not to arrive in the SMS:

Slow Network

One of the reasons why the verification code does not enter the SMS is a delay in sending the SMS. This factor can occur due to technical problems, such as the application system, cellular operator, or the cellphone itself.

Blocked Number

There are some cases where the mobile number is blocked by the SMS gateway or marked as spam, which results in the user not being able to receive the OTP code.

This can happen if the mobile number has been involved in suspicious activity or if the SMS gateway mistakenly identifies it as spam.

Wrong Number Input

Another common problem that occurs is when users accidentally enter the wrong mobile number during the registration process.

This results in the OTP code being sent to the wrong number, resulting in verification failure.

Expired Mobile Number

An inactive or stopped-use mobile phone number could be the reason why the verification code does not appear in the SMS.

In addition, these expired cellphone numbers can be a loophole for personal data theft, because there are already regulations regarding recycling cellphone numbers.

HP Memory Full

Other factors that cause the verification code not to appear in SMS can come from the cellphone itself. Usually, this is related to the availability of storage space that is already full.

Failure to receive the verification code can occur because the memory capacity is full. However, this is very rare because currently MOBILE PHONE already have large storage.

Here are some ways to deal with the situation when the OTP code does not arrive in the SMS:

Clear Cache in Messages App

Clearing the cache of the messaging app can help you restore its functionality so that new messages, including OTP codes, can come in.

To do it is also easy. You just need to open your phone settings, find the message application, then select the option to delete cache

Unblock Unknown Senders

If your phone has a feature to block SMS from foreign or unknown numbers, make sure to temporarily disable it so that the OTP code can be received.

The way to do this is by opening the message application, then going to settings, and turning off the block option for unknown senders.

After confirming that the OTP code has been received, you can reactivate this feature.

Reset Network

Resetting your phone's network can help restore a lost or unstable connection. This will restore your network settings to their original state, which can help fix SMS sending issues.

To do this, you can open your phone settings, find the cellular network option, and select reset network settings. After that, try requesting the OTP code again and see if the SMS can be received.
