What Do We Know About Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile?

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile

Call of Duty: Warzone is one of the most popular online games, with around 7.5 million players logging in daily. Warzone is a "battle royale" game that involves up to 120 players being parachuted into a large-scale island battlefield and competing to be the last one standing. Similar to Call of Duty: Mobile, Activision is also releasing a mobile version of Warzone.

When Can You Play Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile?

Warzone Mobile is currently on 'limited release,' meaning it’s only available to players in certain countries (currently Australia, Norway, Sweden, and Chile). This is so the developers can test it with a limited audience to obtain feedback and fix glitches before the global release. For most of the world, the game won’t be available until spring 2024, according to developers Activision.

However, there are ways to play this game elsewhere. VPN lets you play games wherever you are in the world by routing your data traffic through servers in the country of your choice. Although it is usually used by online gamers to get lower “ping” (latency) and higher internet speeds on overseas game servers, VPNs can also help you access games and applications that are not available in your country. A VPN like ExpressVPN or similar allows you to access the Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile application wherever you are without having to wait for the official release.

Warzone Mobile will feature the same player limit of 120 players as the other versions of the game and is believed to offer the same choice of weapons and playlist options (Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads), too. Popular maps Verdansk and Rebirth Island (which had initially been removed from the game with the Warzone 2.0 update) are confirmed to be included too.

Mobile Matters reports that the game will feature cross-progression (when you unlock a new item or level up, this carries over to all other platforms you play on with your account) with Call of Duty titles Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, and will share the same Battle Pass. However, it won’t feature cross-play (where you can compete in matches against other players playing the game on different platforms).

In 2022, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 was released on the PlayStation 4 and PS5, the Xbox One and Series S/X, and PC. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is now simply known as Call of Duty: Warzone and has replaced the original 2020 Call of Duty: Warzone. While this original was re-released with the name Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, Activision closed this game down in September 2021.

Currently, the only version of Warzone available to play is the one previously released as Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, although you can play it on multiple platforms. The game's mobile version is available in Australia, Norway, Sweden, and Chile and will be released in many more countries in Spring 2024.

The Future of Call of Duty

The divisions between mobile gaming and console/PC gaming are dissolving, and the Call of Duty series is just one example of this. Even with many competitors in the multiplayer FPS genre, like Apex Legends, Call of Duty remains extremely popular. The upcoming worldwide release of Warzone Mobile has created much anticipation, and combined with the recent release of Modern Warfare 3, shows that the long-running action series is still at the top of its game.
