The tap-strafe technique in Apex Legends allows for sharper moves and tougher turns than a typical side jump. It uses a combination of air-stranding and bunny hopping.

The premise behind this technique is simple: Each time the forward button is pressed and released, it slightly changes the direction of momentum. Doing this a few times in quick succession results in a full 180 degree spin, which is very useful in fights.

Tap-stranding can be very effective in games when used correctly. So, let's see how to do it successfully.

In the recently released season 14 update, tap-stranding is still possible in Apex Legends. So, if you are wondering how to do the Apex tap strafe tutorial, check out the simple steps below:

  1. Perform slide jumps by pressing shift, control, and space at the right time while holding down one of the strafe buttons depending on which way you want to go. A will go left, and D will go right.
  2. At the peak of the jump, flick the mousewheel up or down while holding down the strafe button without moving the mouse. If you did it right, you should see a diagonal pull in the direction you're facing.
  3. After getting the piece, move the mouse in the direction of the drag while spamming the mouse scroll and holding down the strafe button, and you should successfully tap-strafe.

When Respawn initially announced the removal of tap-strafing in Apex Legends, there were various concerns. However, after some deliberation, Respawn decided to tweak this movement mechanic.

That means players can still take advantage of techniques for now in a nerf state. There's no telling if Respawn plans to further change how the feature works, but for now, tap-stranding is still available in the game.
