Guide to God of War Ragnarok side mission in Midgard: Animal Instincts
Animal Instincts is the name of one of the Favors (side missions) that can be played on the GOW Ragnarok installation. The lore of this side mission is that you help "clean up" the wolf habitat which is damaged due to the presence of the raiders who camped there.
One of the permanent effects of this mission will be the destruction of all camps in the "Lake of Nine" area. Of course this is the work of Kratos which is controlled by you as players. And here is the step by step.
Rewards
There will be four rewards that can be obtained if you are able to complete it: 1000 EXP for Kratos, 250 EXP for Companion, Amulet Enchantment, and Crackle of Bilskirnir.
How to open
Opening this side mission is quite easy. Players can immediately access it once you can gain control of Kratos in the Midgard region. This means you can do it as soon as possible after completing the main mission "The Word of Fate".
To start with, Vicigers can do this by entering one of the camps in the Lake of Nine area. What you need to do next is slaughter all the raiders you can find there.
This mission will be considered complete if you have slaughtered the remaining three camps in the area.
Camp location
As explained above, there will be four camps scattered throughout the Lake of the Nine area. Some of them are quite easy to find, but some are quite tricky to find. Here is an overview of the location:
- Raider Fort: From the easiest, namely Raider Fort, the location is on the left side of the Lake of Nine area. You won't find it difficult because you can see the smoke from the fireplace billowing from a distance as a location marker point.
- Raider Keep: The next Raider Keep is in a cave on an ice cliff. Vicigers can find it east of this area. The easiest marker is the trace of blood that can be seen on the steps at the mouth of the entrance to the cave.
- Raider Stronghold: Its position is right in the middle of this area. What you can use as a benchmark for the entrance hole is Tyr's giant helmet that is buried not far from there.
- Raider Hideout: As the name implies which means "hiding", the entrance to this camp is quite hidden. Vicigers need to head to the east of this area and follow along its walls. At the end of the road you will find the entrance to this camp.
Final Bosses and Endings
After you've cleared all the raiders in the four camps, you need to fight the leader: Oluf Nautson. Even though the boss deals more damage when compared to the raiders you have slaughtered, the moves aren't too different.
And when you have defeated him, all you have to do is interact with Kratos' wolves to end the Animal Instincts mission.
