Comparison of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 with other Flip cellphones
Currently, there are two cellphones that are competitors for Samsung's folding cellphone, namely the Motorola Razr Plus and the Oppo Find N2 Flip.
Razr Plus allows almost all Android applications to run on the cover screen. While Samsung doesn't do that, they only allow some customized apps and widgets to be used on the cover screen.
Of the three, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is the only one with a vertically oriented cover screen.
However, the Find N2 Flip has more limited functionality than the other two brands, due to fewer widget options and no app support at all.
Apart from that, the main differences between these three flip phones are regarding durability, chipsets, and software updates.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has an IPX8 rating which makes it water resistant at a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the Razr Plus is the first foldable phone to have an IP52 rating.
Z Flip 5 uses a processor, namely Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. Razr Plus uses Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Meanwhile, Find N2 Flip uses Dimensity 9000 Plus from Mediatek.
All three devices run on Android 13, with the Z Flip 5 and Find N2 Flip offering four years of software updates. Meanwhile, the Razr Plus has three years of software updates.
The same goes for security updates, with Samsung and Oppo providing five years of support, while Motorola committing to four years.
