What is Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Equivalent to? Here's the Answer

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a chipset designed for high-end phones. This chipset was released by Qualcomm last year, precisely on March 18, 2024.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 itself has a CPU that includes a Cortex X4 prime core (3.0 GHz), four Cortex A720 high performance cores (2.8 GHz), and three Cortex A520 efficiency core units (2.0 GHz).

And uses a 950 MHz Adreno 732 GPU, supports up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM capacity, and UFS 4.0 storage type.

So the performance of the cellphone that uses it is very suitable for daily use, multitasking, even heavy use.

However, for those of you who want to find another equivalent chipset, here we present several chipsets that are comparable to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was introduced at the Snapdragon Summit on November 15, 2022. You can find this chipset on flagship phones released in 2023, such as: OPPO Find X6 Pro, Xiaomi 13, and OnePlus 11.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has a 4nm fabrication with CPU performance improvements of up to 35% and 40% more efficient than Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

In addition, this chip also uses Qualcomm AI Engine technology with a performance level 4.35x higher and better power efficiency 60%.

Not to be missed, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 also introduces Wi-Fi 7 connectivity which can achieve higher bandwidth than Wi-Fi 6E.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has eight CPU units containing one Cortex X3 unit (3.2 GHz), four high-performance cores with a power of 2.8 GHz (2x Cortex A715, 2x Cortex A710), and three power-efficient Cortex A510 cores (2.0 GHz).

For graphics processing (GPU), this chipset uses Adreno 740 which operates at a frequency of 680 MHz. This GPU can achieve high frame rates when gaming and supports ray tracing features.

Quoted from the Kimovil page, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro which uses Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 has an AnTuTu v10 score of 1,537,608 points. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the iQOO 11 scored 1,606,381 points.

The Dimensity 9200 is built on a 4nm process and is one of the first to use 64-bit ARMv9 performance cores.

This chip consists of 8 processor cores consisting of one Cortex X3 core (3 GHz), three high performance Cortex A715 cores (2.8 GHz), and four power-saving Cortex A510 units (1.8 GHz).

For graphics processing, the Dimensity 9200 relies on the Mali G715 Immortalis MC11 GPU which supports the use of ray tracing features. For memory support, the Dimensity 9200 provides support for up to 24 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. 

And for the ISP (Image Signal Processor) capability in this chipset, it supports main resolutions up to 200 MP, can record videos up to 8K at 30 FPS.

Reported from Nano Review, in comparison with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the benchmark score on the Dimensity 9200 has a similar score. 

Where the OPPO Find X6 which uses Dimensity 9200, got a score of 1,449,660 points in the AnTuTu v10 test.

The A16 Bionic chipset has used advanced manufacturing technology with a size of 5 nm from TSMC. 

The 6-core processor configuration on this chipset consists of two high-performance units called Everest with a frequency of up to 3.46 GHz, and four power-saving units called Sawtooth with a frequency of 2.02 GHz.

The GPU on the A16 Bionic Chipset is also 5 cores and offers 50% more memory bandwidth than the GPU on the Apple A15 Bionic. 

Not only that, this chipset also supports LPDDR5 RAM and a 16-core neural engine that offers a speed increase of 7%.

The Apple A16 Bionic is also Apple's first chipset to feature a display engine, enabling it to use the Always On Display (AOD) feature.

iPhone 14 Pro with the Apple A16 Bionic getting a Geekbench 6 score of 2,519 points (single core) and 6,382 points (multi-core). Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 gets a score of 2,019 points (single core) and 5,570 points (multi-core).

The Exynos 2400 is the chipset found on the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in Indonesia. This chipset offers 10 cores and is the largest number ever in an Exynos chipset. 

This includes one Cortex X4 prime core clocked at 3.21 GHz, five Cortex A720 cores (two at 2.9 GHz and three at 2.6 GHz), and four Cortex A520 cores at 2 GHz.

The GPU used is the Samsung Xclipse 940 with six cores and speeds of up to 1,009 MHz. 

This is the result of collaboration between Samsung and amd with AMD RDNA 3 technology base to support ray tracing.

In testing, the Exynos 2400 scored 1,658,813 on AnTuTu 10 and 2,210 on Geekbench 6 for single-core and 7,015 for multi-core.
