Nintendo Switch 2 News Has Been Revealed
In May 2024, Nintendo confirmed that the successor to the Nintendo Switch, the Switch 2, was in development.
At that time, the company hinted that the product would be officially launched before the end of the fiscal year, or March 2025.
The announcement unsurprisingly set the internet ablaze, with many gamers expressing their excitement at the prospect of seeing Nintendo's next console for the first time.
However, recently, that enthusiasm has turned to frustration, as some fans have grown impatient with the lack of new updates on the Nintendo Switch 2's development process.
Fans may have to wait a little longer to see Nintendo's new console in person, as the Switch 2's launch has reportedly been delayed, according to a new rumor.
Rumor Has It That Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal Has Been Delayed
The host of Un Cafe Con Nintendo, a Spanish-language Nintendo podcast, recently said that Nintendo has delayed the official launch of their new console to an unspecified date.
Based on what their sources say, the Japanese platform holder was originally planning to announce the Switch 2 between October 8 and 11.
However, those plans have apparently changed and as a result the console may not be announced anytime soon.
That said, if Nintendo's Un Cafe Con report about a delayed Switch 2 reveal event is accurate, it doesn't necessarily indicate that the console won't launch until after March 2025.
Based on the words spoken by the podcast hosts, it seems the announcement has only been delayed from this week, and nothing more.
So, let's just wait for an official statement from Nintendo regarding the release of Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch Code Name 2
Back in May, Nintendo was reportedly working on an enhanced Breath of the Wild port for the new console. At the time, Sega leaker Midori revealed the codename “Ounce.”
At the time, there was speculation that the codename could potentially refer to the weight of Nintendo's new console, and how it would remain relatively light despite the significant improvements it would have over the current Switch model.
It's still unknown exactly what the Switch 2 will bring, but rumors have been circulating.
Various leaks and rumors suggest that the Switch 2 console may feature a dual-screen setup, a la the Nintendo DS, with magnetic Joy-Cons and “gears” not unlike those used on a computer mouse.
