RTX 5090: Expected Release Date, Specs, and Price
As we know it, RTX 4090 becoming the fastest graphics card today. And as its successor, the RTX 5090 has a heavy burden to maintain this title.
Until now, Nvidia has not officially released detailed specifications for the RTX 5090. But there have been many rumors that have leaked the specifications of this GPU.
If you are interested in knowing what the leaks are regarding the GPU from Nvidia Here, let's look at the following discussion!

RTX 5090 Estimated Release Schedule
According to Taiwanese news outlet United Daily News, Nvidia's latest GPU is planned to be released in Q4 2024.
According to the leak, this decision is to: “help graphics card manufacturers’ shipments this year and raise the average unit price of graphics card products.”
Additionally, leaker Moore's Law is Dead said that the RTX 5090 will launch first, and will be the only card in the RTX 50 series to launch in 2024.
However, another leaker Kopite7Kimi has refuted this. Kopite stated his belief that the RTX 5080 will be released first, followed by the RTX 5090 in late 2024.
RTX 5090 Estimated Specs
The GPU is expected to use the GB202 chip, the flagship of the new Blackwell architecture line that Nvidia officially announced at GTC 2024.
Analysts expect the GB202 gaming chip to have significant performance improvements over Ada Lovelace's current AD102 chip. The L1 cache in particular is expected to see a major performance boost.
Trusted leaker Kopite7Kimi indicated that the GB202 will use the same process node as the AI-focused GB101 chip.
In addition, Kopite7Kimi said that the chip will have 12 GPCs, with 8 TPCs each, making a total of 96 TPCs.
Another hardware leaker by the name of Panzerlied shared some possible specs for the RTX 5090, which if accurate could indicate some very impressive improvements.
There is some debate about the memory bus. Early information suggests that Nvidia plans to reuse the existing 384-bit memory bus from the Ada chip.
However, recent information suggests that Nvidia will use a 512-bit memory bus, but only on flagship chips like the GB202 which is expected to be used in the RTX 5090.
Rumors from May 2024 also coming from Panzerlied suggest that this GPU will have a very 'dense' memory layout.
The leaker states that the GPU will use four memory modules on the top, with five modules on each side and two on the bottom.
Panzerlied provided further information in July 2024 that the Base Clock speed for the RTX 5090 could reach 2.9GHz. This is close to the 3GHz limit and is a staggering 30% increase in Base Clock speed compared to the RTX 4090.
Boost Clock speeds have not been specified, but with a high Base Clock speed, the RTX 5090 should be capable of reaching speeds well above 3GHz with Boost clock enabled.
Twitter/X user Everest reported that Seasonic has included data from the RTX 50 series graphics cards in its PSU wattage calculator. While this information may not be completely accurate, it is in line with expected numbers.
Assuming the data is accurate, users may want to upgrade their PSUs before purchasing Nvidia’s latest GPU. Seasonic’s data shows the RTX 5090’s TDP reaching 500W.
Benchlife contributed to the RTX 5090 TDP rumor in early September 2024. Benchlife has close ties with Nvidia's board partners and is well-positioned to get accurate numbers. It is said that the RTX 5090 will be a 550W graphics card.
Kopite7Kimi posted that the GPU will draw a whopping 600W of power. However, further data from Benchlife suggests that this is due to the card’s high-powered cooling module, and the 600W figure refers to heat dissipation capacity, not TDP.
RTX 5090 Design Estimates
If the above suggested memory configuration is accurate, then an entirely new PCB design would be required to accommodate this unusual layout.
This also further strengthens the rumor that this GPU will use a 512-bit memory bus, as significant bit width will be required for such a dense memory configuration.
Related to this, there was a leak in late May 2024, which once again came from Kopite7Kimi. This leak conveyed that the RTX 5090 Founders Edition would use a radical new layout for the PCB. Specifically, the board would be divided into three parts: the main board, the rigid I/O board, and a separate PCIe slot section.
RTX 5090 Performance Estimates
According to the Panzerlied leak, this GPU will be around 70% faster than the RTX 4090. However, it is unclear how, or where these numbers can be replicated.
The leaker is likely talking about pure, rasterized performance, without the frills of DLSS to improve performance.
This ends up being about 1.7x faster than today's fastest gaming GPUs, meaning that the Blackwell generation could be one of the biggest generational leaps in GPUs we've seen in a while.
RTX 5090 Price Estimates
While there is currently very little information available on pricing for the RTX 50 series, some analysts estimate that the GPU will retail for around $1699 (Rp. 26 million) at launch.
