Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Season 9 (MPL PH Season 9) will finally start on 18 February 2022.

This long-awaited tournament will feature eight of the best teams in the Philippines fighting in the Land of Dawn.

From new faces on the winning roster of the M3 Blacklist International World Championship to potential super teams ECHO, there's a lot to be excited for this season.

Here is everything Vicigers friends need to know about the upcoming MPL PH Season 9, including a brief summary of the tournament format and when it will start.

MPL PH Season 9

MPL PH Season 9 is the first official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament of 2022 in the Philippines, featuring some of the best teams in the region battling for three months on the big stage.

The regular season will be played in a best-of-three double round robin format, after which the top six teams will advance to the playoffs. This is the second season since the league became franchise-based.

Format MPL PH Season 9

MPL PH

MPL PH Season 9 will feature a similar format to the previous season, apart from some adjustments to the playoff bracket.

This season, the top six teams in the regular season will advance to the playoffs. To spice things up, the first and third seeded teams will select the team that will complete the first two playoff games, while the first and second seeded teams will automatically be seeded into the second round of the playoffs.

Moonton also shared some changes in the coaching system. Each team this season can have up to three assistant coaches, who can then participate in the pick-and-ban phase with the head coach.

Complete List of Competing Teams in MPL PH Season 9

Blacklist International

Blacklist International will enter MPL PH Season 9 without its iconic duo, Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” and Daenerie James “Wise” Del Rosario.

However, the M3 World Champion has replaced some familiar faces in the main line-up with Kent Xavier “KEVIER” Lopez, the newest member of the squad.

ONIC PH

MPL PH

ONIC PH is the only team to maintain their roster for MPL PH season 9. Their Denver head coach “Coach Yeb” Miranda stated that he still believes in the current line-up and has no plans to improve this season.

It will be interesting to see how the hedgehog squad will fare this season, considering that their rivals Blacklist International will not have Wise and OhMyV33nus on their roster.

Omega Esports

Omega Esports has added two standout new amateur players to their roster, a move that has worked well for them in the previous season.

These players include Duane “Kelra” Pillas and Dean Christian “Raizen” Sumagui, who performed very well during their rookie season with the team.

With the perfect mix of veterans and rising stars on their roster, Omega Esports looks like a legitimate contender in the league.

ECHO

Contrary to ONIC PH's mindset going into this season, ECHO is making lots of explosive changes for the upcoming season. The biggest being the arrival of M2 World Championship MVP Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno to the team.

Many analysts say that ECHO is undoubtedly the super team coming to MPL PH Season 9.

RSG PH

RSG PH added Dylan “Light” Catipon and Clarense “Kousei” Camilo from TNC to their lineup for this season.

While the changes aren't huge on paper, the RSG PH already had high firepower last season. These few tweaks could be just what is needed to improve their game even further.

The addition of Light and Kousei will certainly provide a new perspective for the veteran squad in the upcoming season.

Brand Esports

Bren Esports was forced to make many adjustments following the departure of CJ “Ribo” Ribo Jr., and KarlTzy left the team to join ECHO.

Instead of getting veteran players from other MPL teams, M2 World Champion instead recruited several ArkAngel players, an amateur team, to strengthen their lineup.

While we might consider the M2 champions to be in the rebuilding phase, there's still a good chance that this revamped team will go deep into the regular season.

TNC

TNC finished last in MPL PH Season 8, forcing the team to return to the drawing board. During the offseason, they dropped most of their lineup except for Daniel “SDzyz” Chu and Ben “Benthings” Maglaque.
