Along with the launch of the Redmi Note 10 5G a few days ago, who would have thought that Xiaomi would even officially introduce the RedmiBook 15 as their newest cheap laptop.

Even though Xiaomi/Redmi have frequently launched their laptop products, the RedmiBook 15 is the first Xiaomi laptop to be marketed officially for the Indonesian market.

Why is the nickname cheap laptop? Really cheap? When it was introduced a few days ago, this laptop immediately received a warm welcome from netizens because it was priced at a fairly cheap price for a laptop in its class, which was Rp. 5,999,000.

You can get this price, if you buy it during the pre-order period, because if it's past that time, the price offered will be 1 million rupiahs more expensive, Vicigers!

For those of you who are confused about looking for a cheap laptop at the end of July, you can really just take part in pre-ordering the RedmiBook 15 on July 28, 2021.

So, to make sure you can decide whether to buy this laptop or not, here we present some of the advantages and disadvantages of the RedmiBook 15, an inexpensive laptop from Xiaomi.

3 Advantages of RedmiBook 15

1. Fast Performance for Laptops in its Class

i3 gen 11 processor

You already know that this cheap laptop from Xiaomi has been embedded with the latest 11th generation Intel i3 processor. RedmiBook 15 is powered by an i3-1115G4 processor, 8GB RAM and a 256GB PCIe SSD.

For laptops with almost similar prices, most of us will only get Intel Celeron or Pentium Gold processors, Vicigers.

Very lucky, Xiaomi presents this cheap laptop with a processor that is not half-hearted, directly the latest generation from Intel i3.

Don't worry, you can still play games like Valorant, Dota 2, and the like comfortably, but at low graphics settings.

2. Fairly Complete Port

The port that this Redmi laptop has is also quite complete. You can find a DC in, HDMI, and x2 USB 3.0 charger port on the left side of this laptop.

On the right side, you can find a kensington lock, LAN port, x1 USB 2.0, card reader, and 3.5mm audio jack.

3. Long Lasting Battery

Equipped with a battery of 46Wh (rated capacity) or 48Wh (typical capacity), this laptop has a fairly durable screen on time.

Several tech reviewers have tried. and mentions that this laptop battery can last 6-7 hours with normal use, without playing games. Indeed, it is somewhat faster than the claims issued by Xiaomi, it can last up to 10 hours.

Normal is meant here, just as it is done for typing activities, surfing in cyberspace, playing songs/videos, and other light work.

This laptop can be fully charged only by charging it for more than 1 hour, thanks to the default 65 Watt charger.

3 Disadvantages of RedmiBook 15

1. Without Additional RAM and SATA Slots

Fortunately, this laptop has been embedded with 8GB of DDR4 RAM on-board, so the problem is slightly resolved. However, it remains a problem for those of you who want to maximize this laptop's RAM, for example at 16GB.

You can't do this, because this Redmi laptop doesn't have an additional RAM slot. Even for storage, this laptop only provides 1 PCIe slot without additional SATA slots for SATA HDD/SSD.

2. Keyboard Does Not Use Backlit

Actually, this is a trivial problem, but if this feature is in RedmiBook 15, of course this will be a plus for this laptop.

Moreover, the backlit feature is mandatory on laptops, like the 5,000mAh battery, which has become a separate standard for Xiaomi smartphones. Although there are no official regulations, Xiaomi smartphone batteries must have a minimum capacity of 5,000mAh.

For those who are lying down, I think the backlit feature is really useful if you're in a room lying down, turn off the light while typing casually, right or not?

3. The charger port is not yet type-c

Even though the charger used can already do 65 Watt fast charging. Unfortunately, this cheap Xiaomi laptop is not equipped with charging via a Type-C port.

Even the RedmiBook 15 doesn't have a Type-C port at all on the right or left side.

It's a bit lacking, for those of you whose children are very contemporary. But, again, with the price of a laptop that doesn't reach 6 million, the specifications offered are already very tempting.

Oia, what is still a question today is, we don't know the screen panel used for the Redmibook 15, the specifications page on the official Xiaomi Indonesia website is also not explained, it only explains the size of the screen which has a span of 15.6 inches, so maybe we can wait until the Xiaomi informs this.

Do not forget that Xiaomi also provides after-sales service for hardware for 2 years, and 1 year for batteries, not bad right? The problem is that there are still many notebook brands today that even only provide maximum after-sales service in the first 1 year.

For those of you who plan to buy this laptop for the first time, unfortunately Xiaomi limits sales of the RedmiBook 15 to selected Mi Fans who receive invitations via email, and this laptop is limited to only 200 units sold for the first sale.
