As we know One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. Initially, this manga was published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997 and began serialization in issue #34 on August 4, 1997.

One Piece is the best-selling manga of all time in Shonen Jump and has held the record for sales of 2,630,000 in its first printing.

For the anime itself, it started to be produced by Toei Animation on Fuji Television on October 20, 1999 and is still running now.

Originally, Eiichiro Oda planned One Piece to run for 5 years and he had already set the ending. However, he got too into the storyline that he didn't know when One Piece would end.

The One Piece story itself tells more about the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who has an elastic body after accidentally eating a Devil Fruit.

Monkey D. Luffy has a pirate crew called the Straw Hat Pirates who will explore the Grand Line in search of the world's greatest treasure, namely "One Piece".

Anime One Piece episode 1122 aired on October 13, 2024 yesterday. The announcement of this hiatus was announced via X's social media (@OnePieceAnime) and Instagram (@toei_animation).

It is speculated that new episodes of the 'Egghead Arc' will take a break and release again in April 2025.

However, during this break, Nakama will not miss watching One Piece, because during this break Toei Animation has prepared a replacement.

One of the anime that will air as a replacement for One Piece is “One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga” and will be released on October 27, 2024.

This anime will tell about the interesting events that occurred from the Fishman Island Arc and will appear in a Special Edited Version.

Interestingly, the “Fishman Island Arc” version will be different from the remake version from WIT Studio and there are several improvements in the quality of the visuals, voice overs, openings and endings.

In addition, to commemorate its 25th anniversary, One Piece will release a special anime titled “One Piece Fan Letter” which is an adaptation of the One Piece Straw Stories novel by Tomohito Ohsaki.

Here is information regarding the reasons why One Piece is going on hiatus in the near future and will return again in April 2025.

Improving Quality

One of the reasons behind the decision to go on hiatus for One Piece is to give the animators a break or rest period to improve the quality of production.

Toei Animation as a production company will release more interesting One Piece content than before after the hiatus is over.

In addition, the new One Piece is planned to air again in April 2025 with a fresher story and better quality.

Special Content

Even though One Piece will be on hiatus for six months, Toei Animation has prepared some special content to entertain Nakama.

Starting from October 20, 2024, a special anime will air to commemorate One Piece's 25th anniversary entitled "One Piece Fan Letter".

A week after the broadcast of the anime "One Piece Fan Letter", the latest One Piece anime entitled "Fish-Man Island Arc" will be presented on October 27, 2024.

In the new version, it is the result of special editing of the original 57 episodes into 21 episodes and accompanied by quality improvements.

This was done to provide a viewing experience for loyal Nakama, attract new viewers and maintain enthusiasm during the hiatus.

One Piece Manga Also On Hiatus

After the anime was reported to be on hiatus, recently the One Piece manga was also reported to be going on hiatus.

This information is sourced from tweets account X with username @ScotchInformer, who is quite well-known for often leaking about the One Piece manga.

Through his tweet he said that “One Piece is on Break Next TWO weeks. Back on early November” which means “(Manga) One Piece will take a break and return in early November”.

The One Piece manga only went on hiatus for two weeks, unlike the anime version which took a break of almost half a year.

The One Piece manga hiatus will begin with Chapter 1130 which is planned to be released on October 21, 2024. Then, the next chapter can be enjoyed on November 11.

This is not the first hiatus for Eiichiro Oda, he often takes short breaks in continuing his story and drawing the continuation of One Piece.

For 27 years, the One Piece manga has been in continuous production, and up to now, Eiichiro Oda has been on hiatus 179 times.

Taking a break will certainly help Eiichiro Oda to develop fresh ideas before the final chapter of the Straw Hat crew is over.

The One Piece manga story has now entered the Elbaf Island Arc which is inhabited by a race of giants.

And there it also tells about the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates crew who managed to escape from the Navy on Vegapunk's Egghead Island.
