How to Get Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO

Legendary Pokemon are the most hunted Pokemon player Pokémon Go. Pokémon Go is a mobile based game Augmented Reality (AR) which was released in 2016. Pokémon Go is part of franchises Pokémon, this game was developed and published by Niantic in partnership with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices.

The game uses mobile devices with GPS to find, capture, train, and fight virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they were in the player's real-world location. This game is free to play; and utilizes a freemium business model combined with local advertising and supporting in-app purchases for additional in-game items.

The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which has increased to around 700 in 2021.

What You Need to Know About Legendary Pokemon

 

Ninatic as a developer has opened Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Go after Pokemon Go Fest in 2017. In 2017 players were able to get the Legendary bird Pokemon Moltres, Articuno and Moltres, Raikou, Entei, Suicune and the start of the Gen 3 Legendary launch over the winter season, starting with Groudon.

The only way to catch this type of Pokemon in Pokemon Go is to defeat it first in 5-Star Raid Battle mode. These fights take place in Gyms, and players usually have to team up with at least five other players to win.

1. Legendary is only available through Legendary Raids which is the highest difficulty of Raid Battles. Though they are now starting to reappear as Research Breakthrough Rewards for completing Field Research Quests as well.
2. While regular Raids appear randomly, Legendary Raids will appear at certain time periods. For example, in Fall 2017 Raikou, Entei, and Suicune rotate between regions every month. Prior to that, Legendary Birds debuted for one week at a time during the summer of 2017.
3. EX Raid Battles saw certain elusive Legendary Pokemon, such as Mewtwo require an EX Raid Pass invite before players could participate. To get an invite, players must defeat the Raid Boss at the Gym before the EX Raid appears, as well as several other requirements.

3. Legendary Raid Pokemon have the highest CP of all Raid creatures. For example, Articuno at 37,603, Moltres at 41,953, Zapdos at 42,691, Lugia at 42,753 and MewTwo at a staggering 49,430.

How to Catch Legendary Pokemon

1. As with other Raids, once a Legendary Pokemon is defeated, players must catch it. This is difficult considering the chances of the players are quite slim.
2. The base catch rate for Legendary Pokemon, apart from Mewtwo, is currently 3% – meaning that without any modifiers, throwing the ball straight, not using any berries, and not even getting a “Good” roll, players only have a 1 in 33 chance of catching it. .
3. There are several ways to increase the chances namely Golden Razz Berries and Curveballs which can drastically increase players' chances of getting a Legendary Pokemon, while Nice, Great, and Excellent throws can each increase those chances, and there is also a small bonus for having a Bronze Medal, Silver, or Gold.
4. Golden Razz Berry, Curveball and toss Excellent, with the gold medal for the Legendary type giving players a 24% chance to catch a Legendary Pokemon, meaning one in four throws like this will catch it and much better considering there are roughly only 5-13 balls available.
5. The odds of catching Mewtwo are currently odds of 6%, meaning it's much easier to catch than any other Legendary Pokemon, and actually easier than some Tier 4 Raid bosses too.
