POCO M6 has just been released in Indonesia. POCO M Series usually joins the entry-level class that is currently popular in the market. This POCO series is always expected to have good performance, a large and long-lasting battery, and other supporting features such as NFC for example, but at a pocket-friendly price.

With adequate specifications in the entry-level class, the POCO M series is certainly a favorite among young people, students, or anyone who wants to have the specifications of the smartphone they buy to be very value for money.

Likewise, what POCO M6 offers this time, this smartphone has a different design from the previous series in POCO M5, equipped with two outstanding large camera lenses with a main camera resolution of 108MP and a 2MP macro camera, there is 1 additional small circle, namely the place where the dual LED flash is inserted in the form of a ring.

Currently, we have been using the POCO M6 for approximately 2 weeks, and will share our impressions and experiences while using this phone as a daily driver/main phone.

The 108MP camera is the highest camera resolution inserted by POCO for the M series, which is currently only available on the POCO M6. This camera is capable of 3x in-sensor zoom, and is able to capture better details thanks to the large Samsung ISOCELL HM6 1/1.67″ sensor.

Thanks to the 9-in-1 pixel merging technology, the POCO M6 is capable of producing pretty good night/low-light photos and HDR photos. You can also take close-up photos with the 2MP macro camera mode using this phone.

For an entry-level cellphone priced at around 2 million at the time of launch, which may not reach 2 million in the next few months (because POCO usually cuts prices after a few months), the POCO M6's main camera can be said to be sufficient to accompany you in capturing the moments you want to capture, but don't compare it to a flagship class camera!

In addition, the POCO M6 is also equipped with a 13MP front camera, the information is that the front camera of this cellphone has been improved, but after we tested it, the quality of the front camera of this cellphone is more or less the same as the quality of other entry-level POCO cameras, just enough to meet the needs of video calls, online meetings, and others.

You can also find other features when using the camera on this phone, such as portrait features, time-lapse, various filters, beautify mode, and others, but if you use the default camera application, you will not find a full manual photo/video mode on this phone.

Actually, 33W fast charging is very common for POCO phones in the entry-level series, but we must still be grateful because this feature is still embedded in the POCO M6.

This phone has a battery with a capacity of 5030mAh, if you charge this phone in position 10%-20%, the battery of this phone will be full at 100% in less than 1 hour, as long as the phone is not in a task condition, such as downloading files, streaming songs/videos in the background, etc. or is not in an overheat condition.

During the usage period of approximately 2 weeks, with normal usage intensity every day, 2 WhatsApp applications, streaming YouTube and Spotify, Mobile Legends 1-2 games, browsing, surfing on Tokopedia/Shopee, Grab/Gojek, Instagram/TikTok/Twitter, and other activities, this cellphone is able to last more than 24 hours from the full position of 100% to 5%-10%.

Maybe if you use it more often for gaming, you will not be able to charge this phone for 24 hours.

POCO M6 Performance & Engine

Before discussing the engine, just to let you know, this cellphone has a 6.79-inch FHD+ screen with Corning® Gorilla Glass (version unknown) and is equipped with AdaptiveSync 90Hz technology. In addition to being adaptive, you can also set the screen to stay at 90Hz, but this will certainly sacrifice your battery life.

TÜV Rheinland certification is also not left behind on this cellphone so that it can pamper the eyes of its users, DC dimming technology is also present to add comfort when the eyes see the screen in low light conditions, but we think the dimming process is still not smooth enough, and hopefully it can be resolved in the next update.

Moving on to the engine, the POCO M6 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra processor, 8GB RAM (expandable up to 16GB), 256GB ROM (supports microSD up to 1TB), and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. Fortunately, this cellphone no longer uses the Helio G88 which is already widely used by other entry-level cellphones. This cellphone chooses to use the Helio G91-Ultra which is an upgraded version of the Helio G88.

Don't forget that the POCO M6 also uses the latest Xiaomi HyperOS (Android 14), which makes the experience of using this cellphone even more comfortable on the latest HyperOS UI.

The above engine is capable of crushing all general games that are widely played today, such as Mobile Legends, Honor of Kings, Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and others. We rarely find frame drops during testing, as long as the temperature of this cellphone does not overheat. This cellphone will get very hot if forced to play games like Genshin Impact, Ragnarok Origin, and other similar games that present high-level graphics with right-aligned settings. Our advice if you want to play these games on this cellphone, you can lower the image display quality settings and effects so that you can play the game more comfortably.

Actually, this cellphone has a 6GB/128GB variant, but currently only the highest variant 8GB/256GB is officially sold in Indonesia. Although the internal storage of this cellphone is very spacious, it is also very unfortunate that it still uses eMMC, if only this cellphone had used UFS, it would have been even better! But it will definitely have an effect on the price increase too, Vicigers!

Just a tip for those of you who want to buy the POCO M6, don't often fill up the internal storage of this cellphone at 90%-100%, because the rumor that still sticks to this day is that the eMMC will quickly become damaged if you do that.

POCO did not forget to embed NFC on this cellphone, so at least for cases that are often used in Indonesia today, we don't have to bother when we want to top up our e-money, such as Flazz, Brizzi, E-Money, TapCash, etc.

Not to forget, the 3.5mm jack is also still available, so you don't need to worry about your favorite wired headset being replaced by TWS. The infrared sensor/IR-blaster is definitely also available on this cellphone, so you don't need to bother when the remote for devices in your home such as AC, TV, and others is lost/runs out of battery.

Other features that are no less interesting and available on the POCO M6 are Bluetooth 5.4 (A2DP, LE, aptX); support GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS; FM Radio; and USB Type-C (OTG).

For security, the fingerprint sensor on this phone is available on the right side of the phone (when the screen is facing the front), along with the power button. Personally, we prefer the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the side rather than on the back, or even inside the screen, but of course this is just our personal preference.

This phone is available in 3 colors Black, Purple, and Silver. Especially for the Purple color, the design presented is a bit unique (duo-tone) because it is different from other colors. You also don't need to worry about dust and light water splashes, because the POCO M6 is equipped with IP53 certification (dust and splash resistant).
