At the beginning of May, cyberspace was shocked by the death of a gamer from China named Fat Cat. The gamer was found dead by suicide in the Yangtze River.
After Fat Cat's death, news circulated that he sent 66,000 yuan (Rp. 145 million) to his girlfriend. Not only that, while Fat Cat was dating, the money he sent to his lover was known to have reached 510,000 yuan (Rp. 1.1 billion).
Because of this, Tan Zhu is thought to have blackmailed Fat Cat during their two-year relationship. Not accepting that, Fat Cat's sister posted this story to Douyin or TikTok Chinese version.
Because of Fat Cat's sister's post, many netizens in China and even Indonesia felt sympathy for Fat Cat. Then Fat Cat's sister took the case of her brother's death to legal action.

After going through the process, on May 19 2024 the Chongqing police submitted the results of the investigation into the death of Liu Jia alias Fat Cat.
Quoting from chinadaily.com Chinese police stated that Tan Zhu (27) was not guilty of his lover's death. There was no evidence of financial wrongdoing between Fat Cact and Tan Zhu.
Previously, Tan Zhu was considered the person responsible for Liu Jia's death. Fat Cat's sister Liu Yi was the one who made the police report.
Based on this report, the Nan'an District Public Security Bureau conducted an investigation into Liu Jia's death. The police succeeded in uncovering the fact that Tan Zhu and Liu Jia were in a sincere relationship.
The two plan to live together so that both share finances. The police did not find any facts to show that Tan Zhu had deceived Fat Cat.
After the investigation was over, the police carried out mediation with Liu Yi and Tan Zhu. Fat Cat's gamer boyfriend agrees to settle the financial problems between Tan Zhu and her boyfriend.
Peace between the two parties was achieved, Liu Yi as the reporter has accepted this. Finally, on May 11, 2024, the police closed the case death of Chinese gamers Fat Cat.
The investigation carried out by the police did not find any evidence that showed Tan Zhu was guilty. However, the police instead revealed that Liu Yi manipulated several posts about his brother's death.
Liu Yi was proven to have made posts about Fat Cat and his girlfriend's financial transactions on Douyin. The platform is the Chinese version of TikTok.
The results of the police investigation found that Liu Yi had created a fake account to turn off the comments column on his own posts. The fake account created by Liu Yi was also used to lead to discussion topics.
Liu Yi's actions actually threaten his position as the guilty party. Liu Yi led the conversation which led to online harassment and threats against Tan Zhu.
Even though the Fat Cat gamer's death case was closed on May 11, Liu Yi's actions have the potential to continue.
Fat Cat's sister Liu Yi also admitted her actions to the police. Regarding this matter, the police will follow up and consider Liu Yi's actions.
