Pikmin 4 gameplay

Pikmin 4 Characters

Pikmin are mysterious creatures that are a combination of plants and animals. They are loyal, smart, and ready to follow your directions.

There are a total of 9 Pikmin species in this game. Make sure you call the right one for the job at hand!

Red Pikmin

Red Pikmin have a sharp nose with white flowers. They are immune to fire and have superior attack power compared to other types, making them suitable for use in combat.

This species is the Pikmin that players will first discover and obtain in all the Pikmin game series.

Blue Pikmin

Blue Pikmin have mouths that function as gills and you can find this species in all Pikmin game series.

They are immune to water and are the only species that can access special areas where other Pikmin would drown.

Yellow Pikmin

Yellow Pikmin have large ears with white flowers on them. Just like the previous Pikmin, this species also appears in all game series.

They can be thrown higher than other types of Pikmin, but other unique abilities will vary from game to game.

Yellow Pikmin are the only type that can carry rock bombs. In Pikmin series 3 and 4, they can dig faster than other types.

Purple Pikmin

Purple Pikmin have short hair, pink flowers, and larger bodies than other types of Pikmin. They first appeared in Pikmin 2.

This Pikmin has a body 10 times heavier than other types and is the slowest type. They can also lift objects 10 times heavier than other Pikmin.

White Pikmin

White Pikmin have red eyes, pink flowers, small and slim bodies. This species is immune to poison and is the fastest Pikmin.

White Pikmin can poison enemies while they are being eaten. In the second game series, they can dig up hidden treasure chests that other types cannot see.

Rock Pikmin

As the name suggests, this Pikmin has a shape like a dark gray stone with purple flowers.

The hardness of its body allows this type to destroy crystals, attack opponents with powerful direct attacks, and is immune to crushing or piercing.

Winged Pikmin

This Pikmin species has a pair of darlings with big blue eyes, pink bodies, and purple flowers.

Winged Pikmin can fly over water and low obstacles which makes them difficult for opponents to attack. However, the attack power of this type is the lowest.

Ice Pikmin

Ice Pikmin have a cyan color with an ice body and yellow flowers. This species has only appeared in the Pikmin 4 game series.

This Pikmin can freeze opponents by filling the opponent's meter bar by attacking or being eaten by them.

Players can also throw Ice Pikmin into water to freeze it, so that other Pikmin can walk through it.

Glowing Pikmin

This Pikmin has a glowing ghost-like body with yellow star-shaped flowers. Like Ice Pikmin, this species is also newly introduced in Pikmin 4.

They are immune to many dangerous elements such as being uncontrollable, burrowing, or slowing down when in mud.

This species will teleport to the active leader when they are not fighting or carrying out tasks.

Glow Pikmin are the only Pikmin available in Night Expeditions and can be spawned in caves by using Glow Seeds.
