OSRS Will Add New Skills This Year, Check It Out Here!

During the annual Winter Conference which took place last December, Jagex gave the conference participants a roadmap regarding the various schedules that will be carried out by the Old School RuneScape (OSRS) game. 

Jagex said that so far they have experienced many things, including those on the list, and now they are ready to do something new, which is that after all this time OSRS will finally add new skills the players can earn OSRS gold with. 

The game's first new skill was the subject of a vote some time ago, and that vote broke the previous voting record.

Before the new skill was released in Old School RuneScape, it had to get player approval before the development process could begin. 

This multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) held discussions last December 2022 to vote on whether or not to add new skills, and since then over 190,000 people who also have OSRS account have cast their votes, which is a huge number.

How Will the System Work?

After discussing this new skill, Jagex said if the approval percentage is above 80%, then they will continue this plan to the next stage, which is the community consultation stage. 

In this phase, players will decide what skills they want to add. This is currently the case as the new skill has moved into the Community Consult phase, which is an important part of this process and will be sent to all players in the form of a questionnaire.

This questionnaire is a bit in-depth, and its main purpose is to gather input on the types of skills players would like to add to OSRS. 

Players have until January 31 to complete this questionnaire. After that, Jagex will enter the pitching stage, where there will be more discussion among certain people in the selected community.

At the start of this pitching process, a Discord group consisting of a Community Panel with one hundred different players will be formed. They will collaborate to provide input regarding the skill recommendations of the Old School team based on the survey. In the interest of maintaining a consistent level of openness, these conversations will be available to everyone.

In the end, Jagex will once again hold a voting stage for all skills. After that, those that receive the greatest support from the community will undergo additional polishing before finally being published.

Old School RuneScape has been around for a long time, and during that time, RuneScape has had various improvements and additions that were not available in the first released version of RuneScape in 2007. These improvements and additions were not included in RuneScape in 2007.

So, What's the New Skill Like?

Jagex has carefully considered three different possibilities, whichever is more suitable for OSRS.  

Their first recommendation was useful skills that could be used. Slayer is a favorite activity for many OSRS players, as is acquiring new passive equipment. There is also the possibility of a double hit under these circumstances.  

Therefore, adding collecting skills and support skills is one of the right suggestions. If this option is considered, the new collecting skill can provide more equipment for support skills. 

These new features may also include additional content in other areas, such as more recipes, potions, or other types of items.

Despite everything Jagex has said before, they can only make one more recommendation. 

However, it is the most efficient approach for introducing the learning potential of production skills; As they said before, learning production skills would require adding new abilities. 

This plan, like the others, has some positives and some negatives, but let's start by concentrating on the positives.  

The addition of the manufacturing skill, when executed correctly, will allow other skills to interact with each other, which will provide more interesting possibilities for players.
