Oh My God! PUBG Mobile Hasn't Officially Played at Sea Games 2021!

PUBG Mobile Has Not Officially Played At Sea Games 2021

PUBG Mobile Still Uncertain to Play at SEA Games Esports 2021.

At the end of March 2021, Vietnam's Ministry of Sports officially announced the line-up of sports that will be contested at the upcoming 2021 SEA Games.

Unlike the 2019 edition, at the SEA Games this time there were 8 sports being contested or an increase of 2 sports from before, including two popular mobile battle royale games, namely Free Fire and PUBG Mobile.

These 8 sports will later be divided into 10 competitions, meaning that there will be 10 gold medals up for grabs. Here's the complete list:

List of 10 esports numbers:

  • League of Legends: Wild Rift – Men's Team (mobile)
  • League of Legends : Wild Rift – Women's Team (mobile)
  • Arena of Valor – Team (mobile)
  • PUBG Mobile – Team (mobile)
  • PUBG Mobile – Individual (mobile)
  • Free Fire – Team (mobile)
  • League of Legends – Team (PC)
  • FIFA Online 4 – Teams (PC)
  • Crossfire – Team (PC)
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang – Team (mobile)

From the list above, there are several games that were previously played at the 2019 SEA Games but are now deleted, namely Dota 2, Starcraft II, Hearthstone, and Tekken 7.

It turns out that PUBG Mobile and Free Fire may still fall out of the list of 10 esports games at the 2021 SEA Games. This was conveyed by Ibnu Riza, an Indonesian esports official.

Ibnu was invited to the Nimo TV BTR Starlest livestream session. At that time, Starlest was actually imagining that his children would represent Indonesia, but apparently PUBG itself was still uncertain.

“What is certain is that the games are non-shooting games. PUBGM, Crossfire, and Free Fire are not certain," said Ibnu.

International decision

The reason is, it turns out that Vietnam as the host included PUBG Mobile and Free Fire without the knowledge of the international Olympic federation.

Until now, they are still closing the decision. This means that it is possible that PUBGM and Free Fire will be contested.

"Because initially the IOC (International Olympic Federation) said that esports could not be shooting games," continued Ibnu.

"So suddenly Vietnam, as the host, proposed games with shooting games like that."

"This meal is again closed. Later, if for example shooting games come in, the words of the former IOC would be contradictory," he concluded.
