Nova Esports Crowned PMGC 2021 Champion, Won Two Consecutive Times!

Grand Finals PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2021 finally ends today. After three days full of action, Nova Esports from China was crowned the champion of the event.

Nova Esports dominated the lobby for three days, securing a total of 222 points and 101 frags. Nova Esports displayed excellent strategic play, with day two being the most successful. Nova Esports received a prize pool of $1.5 million and a sparkling trophy for their victory.

This is Nova Esports' second title in a row because they also won the first season of PMGC, in 2020.

There was a lot of attention on the last day of the Grand Finals because of the huge prize pool. As previously mentioned, Nova Esports received a significant share, with the team getting $1.53 million, which is equivalent to IDR 21,494,625,000

The second and third winners received $630K and $330K, amounting to around IDR 9,027,742,500 and IDR 4,728,817,500, respectively.

Meanwhile, GodLike Esports, the team representing India in the tournament, came in 13th place, earning $57K in prize money, which is around IDR 816,795,750. Nonetheless, their fantastic performances and gameplay throughout match day won many hearts.

Following are the overall prizes of the participants;

  • 1st place: $1.5 Million – Nova Esports

  • 3rd place: $300,000 – Nigma Galaxy 
  • 4th place: $150,000 – S2G Esports 
  • 5th place: $90,000 – D'Xavier 
  • 6th place: $60,000 – Ruya Gaming's Next Shirt 
  • 7th place: $40,000 – Stalwart Esports 
  • 8th place: $37,500 – Six Two Eight
  • 9th place: $34,500 – Alpha7 Esports 
  • 10th place: $31,500 – The Infinity 
  • 11th place: $30,000 – Damwon Gaming 
  • 12th place: $30,000 – Team Secret 
  • 13th place: $27,000 – GodLike Esports 
  • 14th place: $27,000 – 4 Rivals Alliance 
  • 15th place: $21,000 – 1907 FB Esports 
  • 16th place: $21,000 – Furious Gaming 
  • MVP: $10,000 – Nova Order

Total PMGC 2021 prize pool is $6 Million out of which the Final contains $3.49 million. Each team will get $30k as attendance fee for the finals.

Natus Vincere aka NAVI finished as runner-up of the championship. The team showed great grit towards the final moments of the tournament and took second place with 175 points and 95 kills. In total, the team was able to win three chicken dinners and was awarded a runner-up prize of $600,000.

Nigma Galaxy, from the Middle East, placed third in this year's Global Championships. Proving their mettle, the team focused mostly on positional points and managed to secure several top placements across 18 matches.

The team secured 166 points in total, 48 of which came via elimination. They took home the third place cash prize of $300,000. Order, from Nova Esports, is Grand Final MVP.

Places fifth through 10th in the championship were closely contested, with all teams finishing within five points of one another. Turkey squad S2G Esports and Vietnam team D'Xavier finished in fourth and fifth positions with 150 and 143 points respectively.

GodLike Esports' Indian squad was unable to appear in the tournament and ended their campaign in 13th place with 106 points. The team never looked comfortable in the event and failed to adapt to the PMGC lobby.

Even though Godlike Esports won a lot of fights and earned a lot of frag points, they fell short in the position points department. The team ended the tournament on a high note, however, by securing a chicken dinner in the final game.

South Korea's DWG KIA, winners of the Eastern League Finals, also faltered in the Grand Final of the event. The team had some fine games in the 18 games they played, but failed to replicate their League Stage performance.

Fenerbahce Esports and Furious Gaming finished their campaigns in 15th and 16th respectively. These two teams will try to use what they learned in this tournament to put on a better performance in the next global event.

The PMGC Grand Final was won by six teams from the West League Finals, nine teams from the East League Finals, and GodLike Esports from BGIS (Battlegrounds Mobile India Series).
