A series of NFTs entitled The Merge are the most expensive NFTs in history. The Merge sold for $91.8 million USD in December 2021. A digital artist named Pak created The Merge. His work has earned more than $350 million USD and there are 28,983 people who have joined. They combined to seize a total of 312,000 NFT shares for around $92 million USD or Rp. 1,362,656,750,000.

The initial price of the unit is $575 USD and only increases $25 USD every six hours. In the end, the artist named Pak became the most valuable artist in history. He managed to have a work that surpassed the famous painting by Jeff Koon entitled Rabbit in 1986 which sold for $91 million USD.

The NFT art scene is booming thanks to record after record breaking in 2021. Digital artist Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann managed to take the NFT market to new heights last year. He sells NFTs in the form of collages of 5000 images for more than thirteen years per day. The collage is entitled The First 5000 Days.

The NFT was sold at Christie's digital art auction event in March 2021. Vignesh Sundaresan is the buyer of the NFT, a well-known crypto investor from Singapore. He is the founder of MetaKovan, and also owns an NFT project called Metapurse. The First 5000 days sold for $69.3 million USD or Rp. 1,037,663,550,000.

The third most expensive NFT is a token dedicated to a social cause. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange worked with Pak to create an NFT entitled Clock. The NFT work has been described as a digital counter to Assange's days while in Belmarsh Prison, London.

The work has the goal of raising funds for Assange's defence. In February 2022, Clock was auctioned for $52.7 million USD or the equivalent of Rp. 789,090,275,000. The NFT titled Clock is available on the named NFT marketplace platform OpenSea. Proceeds from the sale of the NFT contribute to pro-freedom organizations, one of which is the Wau Holland Foundation which supports Assange's freedom.

This is not the first time this initiative has happened to NFT's work. Last year, Edward Snowden's face was made into an NFT and sold for $5.4 million USD for Edward Snowden's freedom. An artist named Beeple is back in possession of a popular and high-priced NFT digital work. Titled HUMAN ONE, the work sold for $28.9 million USD or the equivalent of Rp. 432,936,450,000.

HUMAN ONE is a kinetic video sculpture with dynamic NFT to match. Beeple dubbed the work the first portrait of a human being born in the metaverse. This digital artwork is a combination of physical and digital technology. There are astronauts who are forever walking through the projection of the scenery on the four walls of the box.

There are few NFT collections that have achieved popularity like CryptoPunks. The NFT collection is at the top of the most popular tokens. The sale of a CryptoPunks collection broke a significant record. This cyberpunk-inspired project existed in 2017. Larva Labs is the artist that created the NFT in 2017.

The fifth most valuable NFT list is CryptoPunk #5822 which sold for around $23.7 million USD or equivalent to Rp. 355,108,950,000. This is possible because CryptoPunk #5822 is part of the rarest alien edition series, of which only 9 out of 10,000 punks are available. Additionally, this token is one of 333 others with a bandana. Similar to other NFTs, this NFT was bought by the CEO of Chain named Deepak Thapliyal. Given the rarity of the NFT, CyrptoPunk #5822 remains one of the rarest and most expensive NFTs.
