Garp is one character important and is the main antagonist in Arc Post-Enies Lobby at One Piece.

He was first introduced in the special page series Koby Meppo's Diary where he was given the task of training Koby and Helmeppo.

This character has the full name Monkey D. Garp, a marine vice admiral who is known for his strength. Garp himself is related to Luffy and Ace.

He was the person tasked with overseeing Ace's birth and caring for young Luffy before handing them both over to the Dadan family.

Garp was one of the great figures who lived in the same era as Gol D. Roger, the pirate king.

During his time as a marine, he made many achievements. One of them was during the God Valley incident which made people call him the "Hero of the Marines".

He often received offers to be promoted to Admiral. However, he chose to reject the offer because of his hatred for the world's nobles.

Along with Tsuru, he is one of two vice admirals who wear special shoulder pads. When the Marineford War occurred, he had 4 black stripes on his rank.

From the long names of these two characters, you can probably guess that he is related to Luffy.

Garp is the father of Monkey D. Dragon who is Luffy's biological parent. In short, he is Luffy's grandfather.

Luffy was raised with high standards, his grandfather often scolded Luffy for the small mistakes he made. Even though he himself is sometimes not better than Luffy.

Because of this, Luffy became afraid of him. His grandfather also said that Luffy had been fooled by Shanks about the idea of becoming a pirate.

Even though they have different desires, in reality this pair of grandfather and grandson still have a fairly good relationship.

In his prime, he was famous for often succeeding in facing Gol D. Roger. He is one of the few people who can match the pirate king.

Garp also defeated and almost killed Don Chinjao in the past with just one blow, where Don at that time had a price of 542,000,000 in his prime.

Even at the age of 76, he was still strong enough to take down the right hand of the Whitebeard pirate, Marco the Phoenix.

Garp apparently has some similarities with Smoker. Both are Vice Admirals of the Navy who come from East Blue and have white hair.

The two of them also had several encounters with certain pirates they were chasing, namely Roger and Luffy.

They are also accompanied by a sword expert, namely Bogard for Garp and Tashigi for Smoker.

The last similarity is that both of them have a scar on their face near their eyes. Smoker initially didn't have a wound, but he got one afterward time skip.
