Making New History, SRG Wins MSC 2024!

After a month-long journey, the 2024 MSC champion has officially been crowned! For the first time, since changing the name and format of this event, the world witnessed the greatness of the neighboring country's team, Selangor Red Giants (SRG).

Even former champion teams had to feel the bitterness of a crushing defeat. So, for those who are curious about the highlights of yesterday's final match and the progress of this annual event, check out the full review!

Name and Format of MSC 2024

Before we get into the main discussion, it's a good idea to first discuss the ins and outs of this year's MSC, Vicigers! That way, you can more or less understand where the missing point is.

So, the previous MSC is not the current one. Yep, Moonton as the developer changed the system that has been in effect so far. This change is part of MLBB's expansion efforts into a wider global realm.

As one of the games being competed in the 2024 Esports World Cup (EWC), MLBB is starting to 'improve'. They adopted a system that is considered standard for international level events.

However, it could be said that this system is quite 'strange'. In the Group Stage phase, for example, the format used is best of 2 (Bo2). This allows there to be a match with game-point position in the first game.

Just look at the defeats experienced by FNONIC and Xianyou Gaming, where both teams had to go home early just because they lost the first game in their last match.

Not only did the system apply, the name of the MSC also changed! From what was originally called the MLBB South-East Asia Cup, it is now the Mid Season Cup. Not to mention the implementation of a new patch before the start of MSC.

So you could say, the team won MSC 2024 are those who adapt quickly and are dynamic towards change. This is homework for the other winning teams so they can improve.

2024 MSC Final Party

For the final itself, the MSC event this time brought together two teams that are quite strong, namely the representatives of Malaysia, Selangor Red Giants (SRG) and former two-time world champions, Falcons AP Bren (FCAP).

As champion and runner-up, it is not surprising that both of them performed brilliantly by becoming Top 1 in their respective group rounds. And when both of them made it to the Knockout Stage, their performance was also very good.

Using the Bo5 format, FCAP always manages to secure their matches without a full game. The score was 3-0 without reply against See You Soon, and 3-1 when they sent home the Philippine representative: Liquid Echo.

Meanwhile, SRG, even though they almost lost (3-2) to Fire Flux Esports in the Quarterfinals, they still managed to make a comeback! They also managed to secure a score without reply (3-0) when they met NIP Flash in the Semifinals.

Both of them progressed smoothly until the Grand Final which implemented the Bo7 format. As a strong team, both of them put up quite a fierce resistance!

Retaliation cannot be avoided. Until finally when match point took place (3-3), FCAP as the former M2 and M5 champion had to acknowledge SRG's greatness with a final score of 4-3.

That way, trophies MSC 2024 which was appointed the other day has officially marked their first S-Tier event title. Congratulations to SRG from Malaysia!
