New Leader of Project Wolverine PS5
A Sony Interactive Entertainment representative has confirmed to Game File that Wolverine's new creative director is currently Marcus Smith and its new game director is Mike Daly.
Daly has replaced previous Wolverine game director Cameron Christian. Cameron is currently still working at Insomniac Games, but in a different role.
It is unknown why Cameron Christian was replaced with Daly, but Smith and Daly previously worked together in the same role on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Previously in July 2024, Wolverine also lost its narrative lead, Mary Kenney. The loss of Mary was considered by many to be the end of the Wolverine game narrative. However, there has been no official confirmation of this.
The circulating rumor says that Sony is set to reveal Wolverine soon, possibly at The Game Awards 2024 in December.
Wolverine PS5 Game Background
The presence of The Princess Bar in the reveal trailer at least signifies that Logan won't be stuck at the Xavier Institute.
But it does point to rumors that Marvel's Wolverine could be part of a wider universe that includes Insomniac's Spider-Man game.
While Ryan Schneider, head of franchise strategy at Insomniac, explained that this is a “standalone game,” he did provide this teaser: “Being able to build an original new universe with Spider-Man and now Wolverine is an honor for all of us at Insomniac Games.”
Wolverine Gameplay Predictions
Marvel's Wolverine trailer does make it clear that the images we see are “not actual gameplay,” but that doesn't mean we don't have an idea of how the game will play.
Insomniac is known for its slick and kinetic third-person action-adventure games. Games like Sunset Overdrive, Ratchet & Clank, Spiderman is the proof.
Insomniac wouldn't say, but Ryan Schneider, head of franchise strategy, did say this: "One of the key elements that drew us to him was that he's not that different from Spider-Man, both of these heroes feel very driven to stand up for those who are less able to do so."
He added, “In line with our Spider-Man games, our goal here is to not only honor the DNA that made this character so popular, but also look for opportunities to make it feel fresh and truly reflect the spirit of Insomniac.”
