4 Live Action Anime Currently in the Works

Below we will present four anime adaptations into live action that are currently being or are planning to be worked on by various studios. Most of them will come in the form of films, but there are also series.

Some titles definitely have to be made quite seriously. Because if not, this will really disappoint the fanbase who have been so loyally waiting for the broadcast of their favorite live-action anime.

4. Kimi No Na wa (Your Name)

At number four, there is a film which is famous for its 'there is a meteor' scene and accompanied by an original soundtrack from the band RADWIMPS! The aesthetic and distinctive animation style of this film is truly enjoyable to watch.

It's no surprise that this anime by Makoto Shinkai is able to attract the world's attention! Many say that this film (and the franchise that follows) deserves to replace the glory of the legendary Studio Ghibli line-up!

That's where Paramount Pictures finally took the initiative. Produced by the big name JJ Abrams, this live adaptation will later attract director Carlos López Estrada.

3. Gundam

Who doesn't know this anime? One of the most successful in popularizing the mecha genre as well as popularizing the modeling kit hobby: Gundams!

Studio Legendary, in collaboration with Sunrise, has announced that this project has been running since 2018. And because its development at that time was hampered by the pandemic, this film was delayed and plans were to be published via Netflix.

However, after the world returned to 'normal', there has been no latest news regarding the development of the film adaptation. Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, hopefully this film will be as good as Pacific Rim (2013)...

2. Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan – AoT)

Wow, for number two, you really can't miss it! This manga by comic artist Hajime Isayama is loved by many people because the plot is so cool and almost without holes!

In contrast to most action comics which are busy thinking about various moves and power-ups, AoT tends to put more emphasis on combat strategy. As a result, it will be very epic when this film is made into a film!

That's where the massive studio Warner Bros. managed to secure the contract! In 2018 it was announced that this film would be directed by veteran Hollywood filmmaker: Andy Muschietti. Hopefully it can be as cool as the Rurouni Kenshin film...

1. Naruto

And in the number one place and the most eagerly awaited is of course the most famous manga/anime title in the world: Naruto! The life journey of the little ninja who dreams of becoming the leader of his village is truly hypnotic!

And when the story officially ended in 2014, quite a few fans were happy to see the Kyubi Jinchūriki succeed in becoming the Seventh Hokage (Nanadaime Hokage), replacing his teacher, Kakashi Hatake.

The epic story by Masashi Kishimoto has finally been officially 'proposed' by Lionsgate. No half-hearted, the studio managed to secure Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Marvel: Shang-Chi to work on this film!
