Interesting Facts About Luffy's Gear 5 Power

Gear 5 Luffy is the power possessed by the main character of the anime One Piece. This Luffy's strength rises when he is pressed when facing Kaido.

This power was first shown in manga chapter 1044 and anime 1071. When Luffy transforms in this mode, he becomes stronger and cuter. Seen when landing an attack on Kaidou, Luffy always seems to be laughing.

Gear 5 is not as overpowered as it is advertised to be

Remember the fight scene between Luffy and Kaido? Did Kaido immediately fall when Luffy landed a punch? Of course not, right?

In fact, Luffy in Gear 5 mode is not as strong as predicted. Indeed, Luffy's transformation is an attraction in itself, especially the change from the Gomu Gomu fruit to the Hito Hito no Mi. 

Hito Hito no Mi itself is a fruit that has been strong from the start but its strength is not enough to defeat Kaido who is that strong. 

Luffy's strength has indeed increased in this mode. However, he was still hit hard by Kaido and Luffy was unable to knock Kaido out quickly. 

Even so, there is still potential for epic character development later. Luffy will be much stronger with Gear 5.  There are still interesting things in the One Piece anime related to Luffy's new powers.

Luffy's Devil Fruit is Indicated to be Zoan and Paramecia Type

Devil fruit has a function like Bijuu in the world of Naruto. Devil fruits are classified into Logia, Zoan, and Paramecia. 

So far, many fans know that the Gomu Gomu fruit that Luffy eats is of the Paramecia type. However, the awakening moment in chapter 1044 has contradicted the theory that fans have long believed.

Eater devil fruit Paramecia types should not undergo a physical transformation like what Luffy experienced at that time. What happened to Luffy during the Gear 5 awakening moment has raised new questions. 

Is there actually a new classification of devil fruit outside of Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia? Or indeed from the start Luffy has been eating the Nika type of Hito Hito no Mi fruit which is a Mythical Zoan type as Gorosei said.

However, what is clear is that Luffy's Gear evolution is the same as that of Zoan fruit users like Chopper.

But Luffy's power to change shape like rubber is the same as the power of a Paramecia type fruit user. Related to that maybe only Gorosei who knows more.

 Many Fans Are Disappointed with Gear 5 Luffy's Animation

After finally the One Piece anime episode 1071 was released on August 6 2023. Finally, Luffy's newest Gear mode was first shown in the anime. 

Luffy's appearance in this episode received a lot of disappointed responses from fans. Because Oda describes Luffy's design like a Tom & Jerry cartoon. 

Even though Oda Sensei has confirmed that he will use the Toon Force animation style in Luffy's Gear 5 awakening scene starting in 2022. 

In fact, this animation style is often used in Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes cartoons.
