For those who don't know, the term for arranging several items (either photos or videos) in one post that can be swiped right and left is better known as a feature called 'Caraousel Post'.

The term is taken from the name of the carousel/merry-go-round ride that can generally be found in amusement parks or night markets. This feature itself was first introduced by Meta on IG around 2017.

The relevance of this topic actually lies in the application version. Instagram before the update last August. Yep, before the update was released, the Instagram application did have a limit of 10 items for each post.

And after the update came into effect, now the item limit per post has doubled! Users can upload up to 20 items in a single post.

The method is also easy. Vicigers just tap the (+) button located right in the middle of the menu bar. This will direct you to the step-by-step content creation mode (Posts, Stories, Reels, and Live).

Make sure that you are in the post creation mode, then on the item you want to post, press for a few seconds until the number “1” appears in the top right corner.

After that, just select by tapping on other items that you want to include in the post. Once done, tap the “Next” option to fill in some metadata, and you’re done!

As explained above, the item limit per post that Instagram currently determines is still stuck at 20. This update has just gone live and Meta still needs to see user enthusiasm.

So, it is likely that Meta will not add more items per post anytime soon. However, there are still alternative ways to accommodate your needs if 20 items/post feels lacking.

Taking Advantage of the Post Grid Feature

Well, the best alternative is to utilize the Post Grid feature. This feature is generally found on Instagram user profiles that arrange the profile post grid to be aligned – both in rows and columns.

By aligning one grid row, you can integrate three posts to look like a concept with the same theme. This step can also be expanded to two or even three grid rows!

So, even though the number of items per post still has a limit of 20 items, you can conceptualize it to have a much broader theme – according to the number of grids you want to allocate.
