Players who want to enjoy farming will need a hoe Minecraft to start a plantation. This tool, like many others, comes in a variety of qualities and durability depending on the material from which it is made.

With a Minecraft hoe equipped and some plant seeds, you can create a reliable and unique plant farm in Minecraft.

This farm is especially helpful for fans playing in Survival Mode, as it can be reused to provide a nearly endless supply of food.

This makes it great for early and late game players, especially on higher difficulties such as Hard or Hardcore Mode.

For new Minecraft players, there may be some confusion about how to use the hoe tool to make a farm. Fortunately, you can follow a number of methods that have been summarized by VCGamers below.

It goes without saying that before you can use a gardening hoe for agricultural purposes, you need to craft the tool. You can open the crafting table and place two sticks next to the two resource blocks/items.

These two materials can be anything from a simple block of cobblestone to diamonds. Later, you can also upgrade tools to Netherite quality by fusing a Minecraft hoe with Netherite ingots using an anvil.

Here's how to use a Minecraft hoe:

  • Equip a tool by placing it on the toolbar and selecting it. This can be done by using the inventory screen and moving the hoe from your base inventory to the toolbar at the bottom.
  • Find suitable dirt, grass or dirt road blocks to turn into farmland. Cultivating farmland won't work in many blocks, such as mycelium or podzol, so you'll need to find items, such as grass, soil, rooted soil, or dirt paths made with a shovel.
  • Once you've found the right block to work with, simply use the tool by right-clicking or pressing the Place/Use Item button on the console controller (L2 on the PS4, LT in Xbox, tap a location on Pocket Edition, and ZL on Switch). Next, the block must be converted into farmland, and the crop seeds can now be tilled into the ground.

Once you've created your farm and sown seeds, you'll probably need a source of water to make sure their crops grow as they should.

This can be achieved by digging a hole or trench near the farm block and filling it with water using a bucket. Doing so will darken them, indicating that they have been saturated with water.

When the plants are fully grown, you can also use a garden hoe as a tool to harvest your work quickly.

This is particularly useful when growing larger crops in Minecraft, such as melons or pumpkins, because the hoe can break blocks very quickly, allowing for more rapid collection of dropped items.

Also, if Minecraft players don't want to wait for their plants to grow, you can use bone meal to speed up the process.

This item can be crafted through the use of composter blocks by recycling different types of plants found in the game world.

Other Functions Of The Minecraft Hoe

Another function of the Minecraft Hoe

Besides being used as agriculture, this hoe itself has other functions and benefits. Well, here are some of the benefits!

As a Combat Tool

This is certainly not a scary weapon to use in Minecraft. But in times of urgency, the hoe would be a much better alternative to bare fists.

Being a gardening tool, you can't expect a hoe in Minecraft to deal as much damage as a sword or axe. It can inflict up to 4 HP in one hit, which isn't enough to deal with most of the monsters in the game.

Fuel

A wooden hoe, like other wooden items in the game, can be used as fuel for a stove. You can throw a wooden hoe into the furnace to smelt other items. It's a great way to save space in the game.

Annoy Piglins

Piglins are neutral monsters that will attack players unless they use gold items. If you want to run away from the pigs, they can throw the golden hoe on the ground to distract and run away while the pigs inspect it.

The only downside is that the piglin won't return the hoe. But sacrificing 2 Gold Ingots to save a life is a big price to pay.

Harvest Smelly Leaves

Not many players know this, but you can actually harvest blocks of leaves using a hoe in Minecraft. That's right, you won't be able to pick up these blocks with any other tool in the game.

Leaving blocks are great for decorating bases and will not rot over time when collected with a hoe.
