At the time of the release of Apex Legends in 2019, there was only one Heirloom available in the game. The Heirloom is in the form of a Kunai used by the Wraith. However, Respawn has released various Heirlooms since the game's release.

How to Get Heirlooms
Heirlooms in Apex Legends are extremely rare. For most players, Heirloom is one of the most anticipated items. This happens because getting Heirloom is quite difficult.
One of the reasons why Heirlooms are so expensive is their rarity. Respawn as the game developer certainly makes it difficult for players to get Heirloom.
Players must have high luck or top up in order to get one of the Heirlooms according to the player's taste.
So, the way to get Heirloom is to open the Apex Pack. Players will get Heirloom Shards from Apex Packs at a 1 in 500 chance.

Heirloom Shards
Heirloom Shards is the currency for exchanging Heirlooms. Prior to February 2020, players will receive a random Heirloom via the Apex Pack. However, this changed after Respawn implemented the Heirloom Shards system.
You won't get Heirloom randomly, players who get Heirloom Shards can exchange these shards for Heirlooms as they wish. There are 14 Heirlooms that players can currently exchange.

Apex Legends Heirloom Picks
As already discussed, there are 14 Heirlooms according to the Legend that owns the Heirloom. Thus, each Legend has a unique Heirloom and describes the characteristics of that Legend.
After getting Heirloom Shards, players can exchange Heirloom Shards in the Shops menu. The menu will display all Heirloom options that players can choose as they wish.
