“The Dangers in My Heart” (僕の心のヤバイやつ, Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Norio Sakurai.

The series began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Champion in March 2018 and was later moved to Champion Cross, before finally being moved again to Manga Cross.

The series has been published in nine tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation was produced by Shin-Ei Animation and aired from April to June 2023.

A net original animation (ONA) short for the series was released on December 10, 2023. A second season premiered in January 2024. As of September 2023, the manga has over 3 million copies in circulation.

The storyline of The Dangers In My Heart centers on the main character named Kyoutarou Ichikawa who appears to be a shy and introverted high school student, but hidden in his heart is a cruel killer.

His main desire is to see the beautiful face of his classmate, Anna Yamada, suffer before finally ending her life.

However, these dark fantasies may not come true, as Ichikawa begins to see a completely different side of Yamada.

Often seeking refuge in the library, Ichikawa often meets Yamada. During these meetings, Ichikawa realizes that his seemingly perfect classmate is actually insensitive to social cues.

As they spend more time together, the boy begins to feel affection for the girl he wishes to harm, as well as a strong desire to protect her from all harm.

Getting to know Ichikawa Kyoutarou

Ichikawa Kyoutarou (市川京太郎, Ichikawa Kyōtarō) is the main character in Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu. Ichikawa is an unpopular and gloomy teenager who enjoys real crime, and has fantasies about being an edgy assassin despite his empathetic personality.

He is thirteen years old at the start of the series, and attends school with his classmates at Daijuni Middle School in Meguro, Tokyo, Class 2-3 (as the story progresses, he will move up a grade and will be in class 3-1).

Ichikawa is a Japanese teenager who is relatively short and small in stature. Her two most striking character design features are her hair, which is almost always styled in a style where one of her eyes is covered by a strand of her bangs.

And the eyes themselves, which have a striking dot/spiral design, are also seen in his family. She is usually seen wearing her school uniform, but outside of school, she tends to wear "goth" clothing; primarily black, decorated with skulls, chains, and other macabre designs.

Ichikawa's relationship with Yamada is a core aspect of the story, and almost every event in the manga relates to their interactions.

Yamada initially epitomizes everything Ichikawa dislikes about society and school life, as a popular beauty who, at first glance, seems to have everything in her life in order.

Jealous of her friendly demeanor, which his negative outlook interprets as constant condescension towards others, he declares that she is “the girl I most want to kill.”
