Sam is one of the enemies we fight in Honkai Star Rail. You have to defeat him when you do the Trailblaze Mission in the Penacony galaxy.

This boss is quite weak against Elemental Quantum, Imaginary, and Lightning DMG so make sure you bring characters with these elements when completing the Trailblaze mission.
You also won't fight Sam until the end because in that fight Black Swan will betray you and send you Trailblazers to Aventurine to find out the dark secret regarding Penacony.
One of Sam's biggest plot twists is his identity as Firefly. Sam is actually an armored version of Firefly himself. His type is the Fyrefly Type-IV Strategic Assault Mech (AR-26710).
Why can Firefly become Sam? Simply because Firefly was created as a living weapon through genetic modification. SAM is Firefly's identity when he was part of the Glamoth Iron Cavalry, the military force of the Republic Glamoth galaxy.
Firefly used to be a fighter with his friends before his home galaxy, the Republic of Glamoth, was destroyed.
