If analyzed literally (the meaning of the word), 'rumbling' itself comes from English. If interpreted according to the dictionary, this term has the meaning of 'bumping'; 'looking for trouble'.

Generally this refers to the context of a dispute between two or more parties. Meanwhile, if absorbed from the meaning of slang, 'rumbling' itself is usually used to describe street fights.

Well, while the viral term used on TikTok itself refers to a term taken from one of the famous manga/anime titles: Attack on Titan (AoT).

Yep, this term is often mentioned as one of the major events that can occur in the AoT universe. This event was so massive, many of its fans still can't move on until now.

Many AoT fans are mistaken and believe that 'rumbling' is the name of a move or technique used to destroy the world. In fact, that's not the concept!

'Rumbling' or 'Jinarashi (地鳴らし)' in the universe refers to a cataclysmic event (an apocalypse-level disaster). This is the result of a line of hundreds of thousands of Wall Titans walking, destroying everything in front of them.

The sound of galloping like the roar and boom of the Titans' footsteps is what is finally called 'rumbling'. It is said that those who hear this sound should flee as far as possible.

So, although 'rumbling' is often used to describe this phenomenon, actually, this term refers more to the conditions (sounds) that occur when the phenomenon occurs.

How does Rumbling happen?

So how did this disaster happen? Actually, the debut of this event occurred in the manga in chapter 122. More precisely, this occurred in 854 or five years after the AoT story began.

You could say this is one of the climaxes of the manga. It should be noted that this phenomenon itself does not happen suddenly.

Only the Founding Titan has the ability to perform cataclysms of this level. His abilities also include controlling, creating, and manipulating the memories of Titans.

This phenomenon is said to have occurred in the era of King Karl Fritz: the 145th King of Eldiyan. However, the king didn't actually do it and only used this ability as a threat.

That way, none of his enemies would dare mess with him. And it turns out, Eren it is the protagonist who allows this event to occur for the first time in the AoT universe.

Of course, this cannot be separated from Eren's radical ideology which wants to bring peace to his people: an ideology which arose after the death of his mother who died and was eaten by a Titan right before his eyes.

Application in Real Life Context

Meanwhile, when used in the real world, this term is more often used by weebs (and also those who join in) to carry out activities together.

Like Titan, those who do 'rumbling' will carry out the activity in question in groups. In this way, the power of numbers (quantity) becomes significant.

The application itself can be applied to many things, such as watching concerts, hanging out at cafes, meeting up at gatherings, etc. Basically, it's exactly like a raging Titan!
