“Case Closed,” also known as Detective Conan, is a Japanese detective manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama.
The series has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday shōnen manga magazine since January 1994, with its chapters collected in 104 tankōbon volumes through October 2023.

Get to know the Detective Conan series
The story follows high school detective Shinichi Kudo, whose body transforms into that of an elementary school-aged child while investigating a mysterious organization. Generally, he solves various cases by posing as his childhood best friend's father and various other characters.
Due to legal issues regarding the name Detective Conan, the English release from Funimation and Viz Media was changed to Case Closed.
The manga was adapted into an anime television series by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and TMS Entertainment, which premiered in January 1996. The anime spawned animated feature films, original video animation, video games, audio disc releases, and live action episodes.

Detective Conan Series License
Funimation licensed the anime series for broadcast in North America in 2003 under the name Case Closed and renamed the characters with the American version. The anime premiered on Adult Swim, but was discontinued due to low ratings.
In March 2013, Funimation began broadcasting their licensed episodes of Case Closed; Crunchyroll simulating them in 2014. Funimation also locally adapted the first six Case Closed films, while Discotek Media adapted the crossover special Lupine III, its film sequels, and several recent films, starting with Case Closed Episode One.
Meanwhile, the manga was localized by Viz Media, which used the title and character names changed by Funimation. Shogakukan Asia created its own localized English version of the manga, which uses the original title and Japanese names.
As of January 2023, the tankōbon volumes of the manga have reached over 270 million copies in circulation worldwide, making it the third best-selling manga series of all time.
In 2001, the manga was awarded the 46th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category. Its anime adaptation has received good reception and was ranked in the top twenty in Animage polls between 1996 and 2001.
In Japanese anime television rankings, Case Closed episodes rank in the top six every week. Both the manga and anime received positive responses from critics because of the storyline and cases presented. This manga has been sold in 25 countries, while the anime has been broadcast in 40 countries.

Detective Conan stories
Shinichi Kudo is a high school detective who sometimes works with the police to solve cases. While conducting an investigation, he was ambushed and neutralized by a member of the crime syndicate known as the Black Organization.
In an attempt to kill the young detective, they force him to take a dangerous experimental drug. However, instead of killing him, the drug made his body shrink to the size of an elementary school child.
Taking the pseudonym Conan Edogawa and keeping his true identity a secret, Kudo lives with his childhood friend, Ran Mori, and his father, Kogoro Mori, who is a private detective.
Throughout the series, he participates in Kogoro Mori's cases. Nonetheless, after Kudo solves a case, he will use Dr. Kudo's hidden sedative. Agasa to stun Kogoro Mori and then use a voice changer to simulate his voice and reveal the case.
He also enrolled at Teitan Elementary School where he befriended a group of classmates who formed their own Junior Detective League (Detective Boys).
While he continues to investigate the Black Organization, he frequently interacts with other characters, including his neighbor, Dr. Agasa, Ran's friend Sonoko Suzuki, fellow teenage detective Heiji Hattori, various police detectives from various regions, and a shadowy thief named Kaito Kid.
Kudo then meets an elementary school transfer student, Ai Haibara), who reveals herself to be a former member of the Black Organization with the code name "Sherry" and the creator of an experimental drug that shrinks him.
He had also consumed it to escape the organization's pursuit. He soon joined the Junior Detectives. During a rare encounter with the Black Organization, Conan helps the FBI infiltrate CIA agent Kir into the Black Organization as a spy.

Shinichi Kudo / Edogawa Conan
Shinichi Kudo is a famous high school detective who often helps the police solve various difficult cases.
One day Kudo saw a transaction between two suspicious people, who later discovered they were carrying out an illegal transaction, they were Gin and Vodka, members of the Black Organization.
However, Gin caught his action, so he was beaten and forced to drink poison. Instead of killing him, the poison actually made Kudo's body shrink into a small child.
In anticipation that Gin and Vodka would investigate his whereabouts, Shinichi used the pseudonym Conan Edogawa as his new identity.
Conan then lives with his childhood friend, Ran Mouri and helps his father Kogoro, a private detective, to solve cases, in the hope of finding cases involved with the Black Organization.
Ran Mouri
Ran Mouri is Shinichi Kudo's childhood friend and first love. Throughout the story, Ran is shown always harboring feelings of love for Shinichi and faithfully waiting for his return.
Ran lives with her father, Kogoro Mouri, who is a private detective. Even though he is still in high school, Ran is skilled at household matters and is good at taking care of his father who lives separately from his mother.
Ai Haibara
Ai Haibara was once a member of the Black Shirt Organization who betrayed the organization after her older sister, Akemi Miyano, was killed at the hands of Gin.
She is an intelligent and serious woman. Through his hands, a mysterious array of formulas inherited from his parents allowed him to successfully create various formulas for the organization, including a poison that had shrunk his body and Shinichi Kudo.
