Stray is a 2022 adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. Previously known as HK_Project, this game was released in July 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows.

Stray's stray cat game tells the story of a stray cat who must depart to return to his family after being trapped in a world inhabited by robots, machines, and carnivorous bacteria. The Gameplay

Plot

On his way through the ruins of an abandoned facility, a feral cat becomes separated from a group of cats after losing his footing and falling into a ravine, and finds himself trapped in an underground, uninhabited city. Shortly after, the Cat soon found a laboratory where he helped todownload artificial intelligence into the body of a small drone, which calls itself a B-12.

It is revealed that the drone has assisted a scientist before, but most of his memory is damaged and will need time to recover. Then the B-12 promised to help the cat to return to the surface and accompany him through the city.

As they travel further, they discover that the town they are passing through is completely devoid of human life, their robotic servants, the only ones left are Companions. In the absence of humans, the Companions became self-aware and have built their own society among the ruins of cities, though they too are trapped underground.

However, the ruins are also filled with Zurks, which are mutant creatures that have evolved and can devour organic and robotic life. After the cat and B-12 encounter Momo, who is a member of the Outsiders, a group of Companions dedicated to finding their way to the surface.

With the Outsider's help, the cat and B-12 are able to continue into the Midtown sector of the city. After a long journey, finally realizing that humanity's legacy now lies with the Companions and the cats, B-12 sacrifices himself to open a blast door over the city, exposing it to sunlight which kills all the Zurks and deactivates the Sentinels.

With the main exit unsealed, the cats leave town and reach the surface. When the cat leaves, the screen flashes and activates.

Development

In 2015, co-founders of BlueTwelve namely Koola and Viv, they have started to work on Stray which was originally known as HK_Project, because they wanted to pursue independent projects after working at Ubisoft. After they shared some trailers from the game on Twitter, Annapurna Interactive contacted them in April 2016 to publicize the project.

The game's development stage itself also took place in Montpellier in southern France. In fact, the Stray games themselves were heavily influenced aesthetically by Kowloon Walled City, while the gameplay experience was particularly inspired by the cat owners, Murtaugh and Riggs, and the studio's in-house cats, Oscar and Jun; Murtaugh, a former stray cat who was found under a car in Montpellier, is the main inspiration as the protagonist in this Stray game.

This game itself was announced on June 11, 2020 at the PlayStation Future of Gaming event where the announcement announced that this game would be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows. In Sony's trailer at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2021, the game's release noted in fine print in October 2021, although Sony later removed the fine print from the trailer.
