What is Terra Raid Battle?
Terra Raid Battle is a type of match in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet game which involves 4 Trainers fighting a Pokemon Tera.
This Tera Pokemon is covered in a crystal called the Tera Raid Crystal. The crystal was formed from energy released from the Great Crater of Paldea over several years.
You can find these crystals easily because they are scattered throughout the Paldea area and can be seen from quite a distance.
The location of Tera Pokemon is indicated by a light shining on it if the player has never visited it.
The color of the crystal will also indicate the type of Pokemon Tera inside, except for black crystals with difficulty levels 6★ and 7★.
Visiting each crystal for the first time will reward a certain amount of LP, even if the player chooses not to participate in the Battle Raid. The following is the number of LPs you will get:
- ★ – 500 LP
- ★★ – 700 LP
- ★★★ – 1000 LP
- ★★★★ – 1200 LP
- ★★★★★ – 1500 LP
- ★★★★★★ – 1800 LP
- ★★★★★★★ – 2000 LP
LP will not be awarded to players who visit the same crystal in the future or join a Battle Raid held by another player.
Each Trainer will use 1 Pokemon to fight Tera's Pokemon. When starting Terra Raid Battle, players can see the silhouette of the Tera Pokemon along with its type and difficulty level.
The main objective for Terra Raid Battle displayed at the bottom right is “Defeat the Tera Pokemon within the time limit”.
If the battle is open to other players, the time available for other players to join and choose their Pokemon is 3 minutes.
If there are less than 4 players in a Tera Raid Battle, the NPC Trainer will automatically join room.

Terra Raid Battle System
Terra Raid Battle has several rules regarding the battle conditions. The following is an explanation of the system:
Time and Target
The time system in Terra Raid Battle differs by type turn–based usually. A timer will appear under the boss's HP which lasts between 5 – 7½ and up depending on the Tera Pokemon you are facing.
All Trainers can perform various actions at that time regardless of whether Pokemon Tera or other Pokemon Trainers perform an action at the same time.
This freedom also allows one Pokemon to be able to execute various actions before a teammate does anything.
When the timer reaches 10% of the total duration, a message will appear with the words "You can feel a tremendous energy gathering! There isn't much time left!”.
If the timer expires before the players defeat the Pokemon Tera, an energy will be released and take out all the players.
The players are allowed to target teammates with move them, however move which can target multiple Pokemon at once like Earthquake will only affect Raid bosses.
If the Raid boss launches a similar attack, then the attack will only hit Pokemon in the lane used.
Turn Changing Rules in Terra Raid Battle
Pokemon Tera Raid will have one-on-one battle sessions with each member or Trainer on the team.
Every time a player finishes their turn, the next turn will be given to Pokemon Tera Raid.
During that turn, Tera Raid Pokemon can use move anything from the list move basic sets up to a maximum of 4 times.
If Pokemon Tera Raid uses move which has an effect on the base level statistics of the opposing Pokemon such as Calm Mind or Ancient Power, then this will have an effect on all Trainers.
Terrastallization
Every time a Pokemon Trainer successfully delivers a direct attack, the Trainer's Tera Orb will increase by 1.
If the Tera Orb recharges to 3, players can put their Pokemon in the “Terastallize” state each of their turns.
To fill Tera Orbs, only direct attacks targeting the Raid Boss or allies will count. Missed attacks will not count.
