Edge of Eternity is a games JRPG (Japanese Roleplaying Game) released on June 8, 2021 by Dear Villagers and Maple Whispering Limited. The game developed by Midgar Studio has the action, adventure, Indie and Strategy genres.

Edge of Eternity Story Setting

The story begins on the continent of Avaris – The Beyond in 460. A Heryon warrior named Daryon is sharpening his sword in a room. His partner, Ordo, is seen mocking Daryon's weapon, which is a large sword that must be held in both hands.

Annoyed, Daryon engages the Order in a duel. As the duel is over, Daryon receives a letter from his sister Selene. The contents of the letter reported that their mother had been infected with Corrosion, a deadly weapon belonging to the aliens.

Before he could choose to stay or see his mother, Daryon found that his army had been destroyed by the Archelite. This is where Daryon and Selene's adventure in finding a cure for Corrosion and saving Heryon's world begins.

Game Edge of Eternity

Edge of Eternity tries to bring nostalgia to old JRPG games by incorporating the formula into a larger 3D world format.

In a few moments, players can feel some similarities to the classic JRPG games released in the 1990s.

Midgar Studio made quite a splash with its visually stunning creation of the world of Heryon.

There are many moments where players will pause to see the fine details of the scenery.

Besides the beautiful scenery, soundtracks the stunning game by Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger & Xenoblade Chronicles) also manages to build a nostalgic element in this game.

Exploration in this game will be fun with lots of chests, armor, and weapons that can help level up the team.

Players can craft items from found materials to upgrade weapons or consumables such as potions.

To add to the excitement in the game, players can also travel by riding a big furry cat named Nekaroo. There are save points that players can also use to teleport to other save points that have been visited.

As for the battle system, this game looks satisfying with the ATB (Active Time Battle) system that fits into the hexagonal box battle arena.

There are 3 actions available such as normal attack, spell attack and skills, and supporting capabilities.

Each character has a fixed role that is difficult to replace. However, adding gemstones can make players increase their combat status and increase skills different.

By increasing the level of weapons, there will be more slots for gemstones to become stronger and give players a lot skills to use in battle.
