How to Build a Cage in Stardew Valley

To have a cage you need to buy or upgrade it from the Carpenter's Shop in North Pelican City.
You need to buy materials such as wood, stone and other materials which can be purchased at Robin's Carpenter Shop located in Pelican City.
Robin's Carpenter Shop is open every day except Tuesday from 09.00 am to 17.00 pm.
You only need 4,000 Gold capital to buy 300 Wood and 100 Stone materials to build a regular type cage.
After purchasing all the materials, you need to determine the area of land where the cage will be built to be cleaned first before the materials arrive at the land location.
For a small cage, you can only accommodate 4 chickens. However, you can still build it more widely if you get income from selling livestock.

Actually, Stardew Valley itself has 3 different types of cages, but you can't buy these three types directly but you need to upgrade them from the start.

How to Use a Cage
If your regular coop has been built, you can use it to store or raise 4 chickens.
You can buy the Chicken from Marnie's Ranch where it is sold for 800 Gold.
Of course, these chickens need a place to look after them, at this point you can use your cage to look after all your chickens.
But you can also use straw to care for it. You can get this hay outside the cage, at Marnie's Ranch or building a Silo to harvest Straw.
Every morning, the chicken will lay brown and white eggs, so you can sell those eggs for 50 Gold.
It is very important to raise chickens because you can earn double the money which can be used to build a bigger coop.
If you have a Mayonnaise machine, you can produce eggs into mayonnaise and you can sell them for 190 Gold.
However, if you cook the eggs into food, you will likely get less money than selling mayonnaise, which is only 125 Gold per omelet.
Actually, this cage is not only used for raising chickens. However, you can use it to raise other animals.

Raised Farm Animals
As mentioned, initially you can only raise 4 chickens in the Regular cage type.
However, you can still upgrade the cage to the Deluxe type if you have 12 livestock.

Chicken
If your chickens have been breeding for 3 nights, maybe you will get lots of eggs.
If you want to buy another chicken, you need capital of 800 Gold or put the chicken egg in the incubator for 9000 minutes or around 6-7 days.
Duck
If the adult ducks will lay eggs in 5 days, they will also breed eggs which can be sold for 250 Gold.
However, if you want to buy a new Duck, you need to have capital of 1,200 Gold and buy it at Marnie's Ranch.
Void Chicken
Void Chickens will breed faster and you can put their eggs in the Incubator.
Or you can also buy this Void Chicken from Krobus for 5,000 Gold or get it from Shane as a gift to you.
Golden Chicken
This chicken is also similar to other chickens, they can be cooked in an incubator and you can get the eggs for 500 Gold or you can also buy Golden Eggs for just 10,000 Gold.
Dinosaur
If you have adult dinosaurs, they will lay eggs once a week or it will take around 18,000 minutes to lay eggs.
You can also get dinosaur eggs by finding treasure chests, finding artifacts and winning games.
Rabbit
Rabbits can also grow every 6 nights and they will produce wool every 4 days.
You can also still buy the Rabbit for 8,000 Gold which you can keep later.
