Diablo game lovers (Diablo 2: Resurrected and Diablo 3), of course, will soon have to prepare themselves because Blizzard has finally announced the entry of a new season for its lineup of games. It's been quite a while since the developer last started the previous season in the latter half of 2022.

However, with the length of preparation, it can be said that this update is really complex and worth it. Maybe this is also inseparable from the release of Diablo 4 in June. Anyone else looking forward to it?

This time Blizzard back to doing season updates for the two mainstay hack-and-slash titles simultaneously. Diablo 2: Resurrected started Ladder Season 3 on patch 2.6, while Diablo III entered Season 28 with the title Rites of Sanctuary.

The last time the two got an update simultaneously was in April last year. At that time Diablo 2 had just entered Ladder Season 1, while Diablo 3 had entered Season 26.

So what's new this season? To be able to provide a more detailed description, VCGamers will only focus the discussion on the Diablo 2 update first.

Prepare yourselves, adventurers! See you again at level 99!

The focus of this update will be on the built-in Horadric Cube recipe, new charms and runes, as well as a new interesting feature added to Terror Zones.

Apart from that, in the new patch 2.6 there are also several meta and gameplay changes that occur in various classes (Assassin, Amazon, Sorceress, and Druid); fixing issues related to controllers; as well as fixing several other system bugs.

Reported from Blizzard's official site, there are a number of important things that need to be addressed so that you adventurers can get the maximum experience playing Diablo 2: Resurrected this season. Here are some points worth highlighting:

  • Four Ladder modes

Basically the ladder mode in this season hasn't changed much from before, where adventurers can enjoy four different modes:

  1. Ladder Pre-expansion: Ladder standard version consisting of 4 acts (no Lord of Destruction)
  2. Ladder Pre-expansion hardcore: Ladder with one life (if the character dies, you have to start from the beginning) which consists of 4 acts.
  3. Ladder: Ladder standard version consisting of 5 acts (including Lord of Destruction)
  4. Ladder hardcore: Ladder with one life consisting of 5 acts.

Items in Shared Stash in Diablo 2

The latest optimizations from other Blizzards also apply to the Shared Stash system. The items that were there as a result of the previous season's acquisition will be moved to a new tab called Withdraw Only.

As the name implies, this tab is only useful for storing these items and is not intended for storage like Stash in general. Make sure to check the box marked Past in the top-right corner to open this tab.

So don't be surprised if your various items from Season 2 disappear – please check this tab. This will be enforced from this season onward.

New Horadric Cube and Rune Recipes in Diablo 2

Blizzard has also added 8 Runes and 4 new Horadric Cube recipes that adventurers can enjoy in ladder mode and off-line single player. The eight new Runes include: Bulwark, Cure, Ground, Heart, Temper, Hustle, Mosaic, and Metamorphosis.

Apart from that, the seven Runes that were previously introduced from Season 1 can also be enjoyed in the non-ladder online mode now. As for the 4 new Horadric Cube recipes, you can see them directly in the image below.

Terror Zones in Diablo 2 Offline Mode

The excitement of Terror Zones certainly makes adventurers in offline mode jealous. The reason is, so far the developer has only provided it for online mode which can be accessed paid for via subscription battle.net (PC), PS Plus (PlayStation), Game Pass (XBOX), and Nintendo Switch Online only.

But it turns out that Blizzard heard the complaints of adventurers and finally gave the offline mode a chance to enjoy it!

Spawn Sundering Charm

Apart from the big updates above, one more thing that's new is the addition of the Sundering Charm mechanic which can drop in all non-classic modes.
