Moonton faced controversy with Riot Games, the game developer League of Legends. On July 11 2017, the company filed a lawsuit against the Mobile Legends game developer, Moonton. The lawsuit was brought by Riot Games to the California District Court, for trademark infringement in Mobile Legends.
According to Riot Games, Moonton violates intellectual property such as aspects of the logo, map design, heroes, monsters and characters. Riot Games finally completed the lawsuit with illustrations as evidence that there was an intellectual property violation by Moonton.
