DKI Jakarta MLBB Athlete Contingent at PON XX Papua 2021

MLBB Athletes Contingent (Mobile Legends) were sent from various provinces in Indonesia for PON which this time held a new sport, namely esport which joined exhibition sports.

PON XX Papua 2021 is a national scale sports event which will take place from 2 October to 15 October 2020, Papua Province will be the host of this prestigious event. Well, this event turned out to invite various provinces to join in, including DKI Jakarta!

The main location for holding the 2021 XX Papua PON is at the Lukas Enembe Stadium. The stadium became the main location from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony of this event.

PON XX was originally planned to be held in 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and finally took place in 2021.

The total number of sports that will be competed in this event is 56 sports. PON XX Papua 2021 will be held in 4 regions, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency.

In PON XX Papua 2021 there is a slogan that is an encouragement, namely "Torang Can!”. This slogan is a typical Papuan form of encouragement taken from a phrase in Papuan Malay which means “We Can!”.

“People Can!” This is the slogan raised at the 2021 PON XX Papua event. This slogan is a form of encouragement typical of the Papuan people. “Torang Can!” is one of the phrases in Traditional Papuan Language which means "we can".

The mascots of PON XX Papua are kangaroos and birds of paradise. Kangaroo animals and typical Papuan trees are combined into kangaroos and trees, which are short for Kangpo.

Kangpo uses fringe on the head and waist which is a representation of oversized clothing from Papua, which is complemented by carvings on the belt.

This Kangpo mascot is also equipped with a typical Papuan icon, namely the Jayawijaya Mountains, which is placed on the front of the crown.

The second mascot is a bird of paradise named Drawa. Just like Kangpo, Drawa also has a crown and tassels. Drawa's chest is also equipped with a red strap and a white strap. The orange color on the inside of Drawa's body is a symbol of warmth, friendship and love.

In Drawa's body there is a yellow color that represents the color of paradise which symbolizes enthusiasm and joy. The number of wings, tail, and toes on both of Drawa's feet represents the original opening schedule for the 2020 PON, namely October 20, 2020, at 20.00 WIT.

Esports at the 2021 PON XX Papua Event

It is hoped that the presence of esports at the XX Papua PON will provide an opportunity for esports lovers to compete and bring the name of their respective provinces.

The presence of eSports at the PON (National Sports Week) event is also a place for PBESI to look for potential athletes in esports across Indonesia.

On Wednesday (18/8/2021), the Indonesian Esports Council (PBESI) held a virtual press conference regarding the esports branch in the 2021 PON XX Papua event.

The chief executive of the 2021 PON XX Papua exhibition, Glorya Famiela explained that each province will send a contingent of athletes according to the four games The athletes that will be contested are Free Fire Athlete Contingent, MLBB (Mobile Legends) Athlete Contingent, PES E-football Athlete Contingent, and Lokapala Athlete Contingent.

DKI Jakarta MLBB Athlete Contingent

DKI Jakarta Province has conducted a series of qualifying tournaments to find representatives who will compete in PON XX Papua 2021 in the esports of Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, eFootball PES 2021, and Free Fire.

The following is a list of the MLBB (Mobile Legend) Athlete Contingents who will represent DKI Jakarta for the Esports exhibition at the 2021 PON XX Papua event in each of its branches.

Karsten William Tjugito (15 years)

Karsten William Tjugito is still 15 years old, you know! Karsten will strengthen the DKI Jakarta MLBB Athlete Contingent with his four teammates.

Darren Yapaloma (16 years)

At the age of 16 this year, Darren Yapaloma has successfully qualified to become the MLBB Athlete Contingent representing the DKI Jakarta province at the XX PAPUA 2021 PON. Darren is also active in sharing content about Mobile Legend through his social media, such as Instagram and TikTok.

Thomas Setiawan (21 years)

Thomas Setyawan or TongPang is another 21-year-old MLBB (Mobile Legend) Athlete Contingent. In the 2020 Menpora Esports Cup, Thomas managed to win the MLBB esports branch. Thanks to his achievements, Thomas became Brand Ambassadors of the Samsung Galaxy A Series.

Daniel (18 years)

Daniel Zhang or DanZz is a Mobile Legend pro player who is still 18 years old. He is a member of Team ASH (Aurea Sanctorum Heroibus) who won the Menpora Esports Cup in 2020 and is now an MLBB Athlete Contingent representing DKI Jakarta for PON XX PAPUA 2021.

Arbi Rizal Haq (22 years)

Arbi Rizal Haq is a student and also a pro player in Mobile Legend who is still 22 years old. This University of Indonesia student has a wealth of experience in the field of esports both representing the campus and the team you know!

Known by the nickname 'Raja Lele', Arbi has also participated in the LIMA Esports Nationals championship in 2020. Now a MLBB Athlete Contingent representing DKI Jakarta for PON XX PAPUA 2021.
