Tools and materials

To complete this puzzle, you will need some tools and materials. Make sure you have these ready before you go to Ginger Island (you must be there to complete this puzzle).

  • (Must) Flute Block (x5). This is the main tool you need to solve this puzzle. Furniture that has the ability to create tones will be used to accompany the mermaid's song. You can get it in two ways, either by donating certain items to the museum, or making it yourself based on a recipe.
  • (Must) Rain Totem. Because to complete this puzzle you need to do it when it's raining, Rain Totem is an item that can guarantee rain without having to wait naturally.
  • (Optional) Journal Scrap #9. If you want to solve the puzzle without relying on the walkthrough, this item is very important because it contains a clue that is the solution to the puzzle. But don't worry, the Mermaid Puzzle mini game can still be opened and solved without having to get this item first. And because you are relying on this walkthrough, just follow the instructions and don't bother thinking about the clue listed in Journal Scrap #9.

  1. To complete this puzzle, you must set aside at least two days and make sure you have the required materials above;
  2. First day is preparation and survey. Go to Ginger Island and use the Rain Totem there. Using the Rain Totem on Ginger Island will ensure that the next day (the second day) it will rain as a conditioning for solving this puzzle;
  3. Before going home, walk to the eastern end of Pirate Cove beach. Once you arrive, you will see a stone lying on the sand with a musical note symbol. This stone is the location marker for you to execute the puzzle solution later. If you have successfully found the stone, you can return to the mainland first (Stardew Valley) and wait until the next day;
  4. The second day is the execution of solving the puzzle. Go back to Ginger Island (which must have been raining that day), heading to the location of the musical note stone that you surveyed yesterday. In this section you have to pay close attention and be very careful in order to succeed. Beside the musical note stone there will be several piles of stones lined up. Place one Flute Block each parallel to the pile of stones, as shown in the picture that VCGamers has embedded above;
  5. If so, you have to tune the Flute Block tone first. Make sure the amount of pressure you apply matches the following combination:
    – 1:1 pressure
    – 2: 10 pressure
    – 3: 8 pressure
    – 4: 4 pressure
    – 5: 6 pressure
  6. The last is to sound the five Flute Blocks so that they become a song. If you are sure that the row of Flute Blocks has the tone settings according to the combination above, stand next to the musical note stone and position your character facing east. Then run past the five until they all sound in turn. And if you succeed, the mermaid will wave smilingly while throwing her prize!
