Genshin Impact is a fun game with lots of lighthearted moments, but not lacking for Genshin Impact Characters on a sad background. 

There are definitely more than five Genshin Impact characters to list here, but these five will be chosen based on how memorable their tragic backstories are.

Some of them have lived better lives since then, while others only continued to suffer before their untimely deaths.

It's worth noting that only content up to Genshin Impact 2.6 will be considered here, so any sad events that happened later will be left out.

Bennett

Bennett is the personification of bad luck. Wherever he goes, something terrible is bound to happen. While it can be funny at times, there are times where it's not something to laugh about. He was a baby abandoned by his parents, and his luck has never changed for the better.

Bennett really wanted to be an adventurer, but it was hard to have a team without other members in it. His bad luck had eventually progressed to the point where he was used to pain, which was unfortunate for someone as easy as him.

Bennett is a 4 star Pyro character and is most liked for his unique Elemental Burst. He wields a sword and has many useful talents that can improve team performance.

With his explosion, Bennett deals massive Pyro damage in a wide AoE, engulfing the area with Pyro.

In this AoE, characters with less than 70 percent HP will receive healing every second, and characters with more than 70 percent HP will receive an increase in damage.

The Yakshas are all gone except for one member: Xiao. Being the last one around is tragic in and of itself, but that's not the only sad part about Xiao's character in Genshin Impact.

According to his in-game lore, he worked for an evil god and was used as a killing machine against his own will.

Xiao had accumulated a ton of bad karma, especially since he was over 2,000 years old. It was surprising that he hadn't lost his mind at all, considering all the damage he'd done over these eons.

Normal attacks xiao is a spear combo he can chain up to 6 spear attacks in a row. His charged attack consumes more stamina for an upward thrust, while his drop attack strikes from the air to deal AOE damage on landing.

Lemniscatic Wind Cycling will allow Xiao to lunge forward to deal Anemo damage to all opponents in his path, this ability can be used in the air.

Furthermore, the Bane of All Evil will make Xiao don the Yaksha Mask, which converts his attack damage to Anemo damage and further enhances his jump, AOE attack, and damage dealing abilities.
