Yun Jin was introduced to Shenhe at Genshin Impact version 2.4 as a four-star support character. To maximize it, you have to use the right Yun Jin build.
From shields to attack buffs, abilities are focused on supporting the ultimate damage dealer. However, players can build Yun Jin according to their needs. His shield reduces maximum HP, while the Attack buff from Elemental Burst reduces DEF.
Here are some of the best Yun Jin builds you can use, considering the different roles he can play.
Yun Jin's build in Genshin Impact
Yun Jin is probably the best character to support Ayato, the newest 5-star Hydro attacker in Genshin Impact 2.6. Check this article to discuss the best Yun Jin builds to use in battle.
Weapon
Yun Jin was designed as a support Geo character who uses her Elemental Burst to buff the entire party's Normal Attack based on her current DEF stat. He can enter various types of teams that require a shield or to activate Geo resonance.
You should aim to have plenty of Energy Recharge (ER) on him to spam his burst as soon as the cooldown ends. Considering there aren't many polearms that provide DEF stats, an ER weapon like the Favonius Lance is highly desirable.
Here's a good list of four-star and five-star weapons for Yun Jin:
- Favonius LanceThe Catch
- Deathmatch (for DEF percent)
- Skywards Spine
- Engulfing Lightning
- Starglitter Prototype (F2P)
Yun Jin's team role shouldn't affect the player's weapon priority. They should choose a weapon with an ER sub-stat.
Artifact
Yun Jin's skill has two modes: press and hold. The hit mode releases an immediate attack while the second mode charges up and creates a shield based on its max HP. Once fully charged or the shield breaks, he will unleash an attack, dealing damage based on his current DEF stat.
This ability is quite difficult to master. Players can “Patter” with it to instantly deal maximum damage without having to charge up for the full duration. Just set the time for the attack to release just before the enemy's attack hits.
Deals AoE Geo DMG when cast and gives all party members the Flying Cloud Flag Formation buff.
This buff provides bonus DMG to normal attacks based on Yun Jin's current DEF. It can be triggered a maximum of 30 times, and hitting multiple enemies costs a lot of triggering.
Overall, he would need around 200 percent to 240 percent to comfortably use Elemental Burst on cooldown.
The first and most obvious choice is the four-part Husk of Opulent Dreams. It provides a lot of Geo defense and damage. Players struggling to get Energy Refills can also get a two-piece Emblem of Severed Fate and a two-piece Husk of Opulent Dreams.
Energy Recharge and DEF percent are the two main sub-stats players should focus on when building Yun Jin. ER can range from 160-200 percent, depending on the team.
Therefore, their builds must include percent DEF/Energy Recharge Sands, percent DEF Goblet, and percent DEF/Crit Rate Circlet.
Yun Jin buffed the Normal ATK of other party members, therefore she should be placed with a primary DPS unit that relies on their Normal Attack for damage. These characters include Yoimiya and Razor.
Best team
Ayato, Yun Jin, Xiangling and Zhongli is this team focused on improving Ayato's normal attack ability with Yun Jin's kit and Geo Zhongli's resonance. Xiangling was there to continue applying Pyro to trigger Evaporation.
Ayato, Yoimiya, Yun Jin and Zhongli as a whole, this is the perfect team for Ayato. Players can replace Zhongli with Bennett if needed.
Yun Jin is the team's main support buff, dealing Normal Attack DMG and ATK SPD (if C6). The final slot can be either Zhongli or Bennett, depending on your preference. The former is geared towards defense while the latter is more focused on offense.

Noelle, Yun Jin, Gorou and Albedo were also the best team for him. Players can definitely pair Yun Jin with a number of Geo DPS like Itto, Noelle or zhongli. While these pure Geo teams aren't top tier DPS or anything, they usually excel in attack and defense and are easy to build/play with.
Ayato will act as Main DPS for the team, dealing high damage with his skill using the vaporize reaction and Yun Jin's buff. Yoimiya can switch to deal damage while Ayato's kit is on cooldown.
Overall, the team focused on Yoimiya's attacks, with support from Yun Jin and Vaporization triggers from Xingqiu. The last member of the team, Bennett, deals Pyro's resonance, healing, and damage.
Not many characters in Genshin Impact can maximize Yun Jin's current ATK buff. However, it's safe to assume that such a DPS unit will be introduced in the near future, and that Opera Singer will eventually prove its worth.
