Fans DOTA 2 Surely you already know about the Bali Major 2023 tournament which will be held at the end of June, from June 29 to July 9.

Maybe for those who just know about this one tournament will be the third major series in the DOTA Pro Circuit (DPC) which has taken place in several other countries. For now, Indonesia is the host for this tournament, the city chosen to host is the Island of the Gods, Bali.

This tournament will be the final tournament series for the competition DOTA 2 Pro Circuit before it was held The International this year as well as the last chance for qualifying teams to defend DPC points. Actually, the Bali Major is an international class DOTA 2 game tournament and is the last tournament before entering The International class. It is right for Indonesia to be able to host this prestigious tournament.

There are several teams competing here from June 29 to July 9 2023 to fight for a prize of $500,000 USD or Rp. 7.5 Billion and 3,500 DOTA Pro Circuits points which are general prizes for DOTA 2 tournaments at the major class level.

Actually there are 18 best teams that must represent to become champions so they will compete from various countries to compete in Bali Major DOTA 2.

Timetable

As previously mentioned that Bali is hosting the current Bali Major tournament, Bali is entrusted with hosting the DOTA 2 tournament for the first time for almost 2 weeks from 29 June – 9 July 2023.

The first round that will be skipped is the Group Stage which will be held from 29 June – 3 July 2023. Then, the second round, namely the Playoffs will be held from 5 July – 9 July 2023.

Of course, the Playoff round is the round most eagerly awaited by DOTA 2 fans because they are curious about who will emerge as the winner of the Bali Major in 2023.

Stages or Acts

In the Bali Major later the competing teams will enter into two stages or two rounds in this tournament such as the Group Stage and Playoffs.

Of the 18 competing teams, they will be divided into 2 groups which will determine the continuation of the team's journey in the playoffs. The Group Stage has a single round-robin format for each team to compete in the best of two (BO2) series and for the 4 teams that have a high or top ranking will definitely advance to the Upper Bracker in the Playoffs later.

Therefore, each team is expected to be able to pass the Group Stage optimally so that they can continue to the Playoff stage.

Tournament Format

The Bali Major still has the same format as the previous Lima Major 2023 or the Berlin Major 2023 by Valve. Of the 18 teams participating in this tournament, four teams from Western Europe and China, three teams from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe and three teams from North and South America.

The Group Stage will be in a round-robin format and the match format will use best of two, they will be best divided into two groups consisting of 9 teams. The best four teams are expected to qualify for the upper bracket of the playoffs, then the fifth and sixth ranks from the group will pass through the Lower Brackets and the bottom three teams will not qualify automatically.

The Playoff round will be in a double elimination format and the matches will be in the best of three format. However, for the grand final round using the best of seven format.

Quoted from Liquipedia, the total prize for the Bali Major championship is $500,000 USD and 3,500 Pro Circuits points. For each rank will get prizes worth:

  • 1st Winner: $200,000 – 600 points.
  • 2nd Winner: $100,000 – 550 points.
  • 3rd Winner: $75,000 – 500 points.
  • 4th Rank: $50,000 – 450 points.
  • 5th & 6th Rank: $25,000 – 400 points.
  • 7th & 8th Rank: $12,500 – 300 points.

Apart from getting a prize of $500,000 USD or Rp. 7.5 billion and 3,500 DOTA Pro Circuits (DPC) points, of course the teams will take the unique Bali Major trophy.

Why is it said to be very unique? because if you notice that this trophy contains elements of local culture such as carvings that form the head of 'Garuda'. In addition, this trophy visualizes the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue and the figure of Barong as a famous mythological figure in Bali.

Champion of Bali Major 2023

The Bali Major 2023 ended on Sunday, 9 July 2023, leaving only two teams from Europe, namely Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid.

Gimin Gladiators managed to win a unique trophy from their victory over Team Liquid in the Best of 5 (BO5) match with a score of 3-1 in a very short duration of about 48 minutes and built a temporary score of 1-0 which can be completed in about 20 minutes .

Successfully defeating Team Liquid, Gimin Gliators managed to win this unique Balinese trophy from the Bali Major 2023. Apart from that, they brought a prize of $200 thousand United States dollars or the equivalent of Rp. 3 billion and 600 DOTA Pro-Circuit (DPC) Points.
