Assassin's Creed Mirage: Storyline, Gameplay and Characters

Assassin's Creed Mirage is a series games The latest in the Assassin's Creed franchise which was just released on October 5 2023.

This game was released for the PlayStation 4 game console, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows.

Ubisoft as the developer and publisher of this game is reportedly also going to release Assassin's Creed Mirage on the iPhone 15 which will be released in early 2024.

Assassin's Creed Mirage storyline

This game is set in Baghdad during the golden age of Islam, specifically the Anarchy at Samarra period, where there was extreme internal instability during the Abbasid Caliphate.

The Mirage timeline takes place a decade before the events of the game Assassin's Creed Valhalla. You will play as Basim Ibn Ishaq, voiced by Lee Majdoub.

Basim was originally a street thief in Anbar City. Even though he is just a thief, he has the desire to join a large organization called The Hidden Ones.

It was not easy to join the organization, he was flatly rejected by Roshan, who was a senior at the Anbar City branch.

To prove that he is capable of joining, Basim tries to steal an artifact with his childhood friend, Nehal.

Unfortunately, they were both discovered by the Caliph at that time, al-Mutawakkil. Panicking, Nehal then kills the Caliph to save Basim and escapes.

In retaliation for this incident, the guards began to massacre all the thieves in Anbar City. Basim and Nehal separate, Basim is then helped to escape from the city by Roshant.

Basim then joined The Hidden Ones and as a new member, he was then trained by Roshan.

From Basim's perspective, players will be invited to explore the city of Baghdad in the 9th century while investigating this city and uncovering the truth behind its government.

Assassin's Creed Mirage gameplay

Like previous games, Assassin's Creed Mirage again brings gameplay that focuses on stealth combat.

Other elements presented in this game besides stealth combat is parkour and close combat that uses weapons.

Like the protagonists of the previous Assassin's Creed series, Basim is also equipped with many equipment weapons such as the signature Assassin Hidden Blade, smoke bombs, and throwing knives.

Every weapon and tool in this game can be upgraded through skill tree which can add various effects.

For in-game missions, Mirage adopts the "Black Box" design as seen in Assassin's Unity and Syndicate.

This concept allows players to explore the surrounding environment and use various methods to reach and eliminate targets.

Mirage also introduces a new feature to this game, “Assassin Focus” which allows players to eliminate many opponents at one time by killing stealth.

When activating this feature, time will stop and players can mark up to five opponents who will be killed by Basim quickly.

Basim also has access to Eagle Vision and a companion bird named Enkidu. Enkidu is an eagle who can be used to scout the surrounding environment.

Baghdad itself, as the setting for this game, is equipped with a new feature in the form of poles scattered in various locations to cross wide gaps.

The movement animations of the characters in Assassin's Creed Mirage have also been improved, making it easier for players to move in the game.

Characters in the Assassin's Creed Mirage Game

Basim

The main character in Assassin's Creed Mirage, Basim was born in Samarra. He lost his mother at a young age and became a street thief to make ends meet in Baghdad.

Basim has an interest in the Hidden Ones organization, where he dreams of becoming a member.

Roshan

Roshan is a senior member of The Hidden Ones stationed at the Anbar City branch. He was the one who refused to join Basim when he first wanted to join the organization.

After rescuing Basim from the city, Roshan then decides to become a mentor to teach Basim various skills.

Nehal

Basim's childhood friend. The two of them have been friends for a long time and live together on the streets.

He is a loner who is stubborn but has a firm opinion. Nehal always warns Basim not to trust anyone but himself.

Ali

A leader of the Zanj rebellion. Apart from being very clever and an educated person, Ali chose to fight decisively and relentlessly against the caliph.

He worked with The Hidden Ones but did not follow their beliefs. For Ali, freedom runs without any limits.
