M2

System apples The M2 on chip (SOC) is Apple's fifth entry in the Apple Silicon chip series, announced in June 2022. Like the M1, this system combines the CPU and GPU into a single die (one piece of silicon) with long-term shared memory.

Faster performance than systems that separate the CPU and GPU into discrete chips. Apple claims the M2 will have 18 percent faster CPU, 35 percent faster GPU, 50 percent more memory bandwidth and 40 percent faster Neural Engine than the M1. It also incorporates ProRes media encoding, which will speed up the workflow for some creative professionals.

As of June 2022, Apple only announced the M2 chip in the MacBook Air (M2) and 13-inch MacBook Pro, both of which are planned to ship in July 2022. It's possible that the M2 will come to a future iPad or Mac. Mini release too. Here are some stats on the M2:

Compared to Apple Silicon's larger chips (such as the M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra), the M2 has an advantage in terms of computing power while keeping power consumption and heat transfer relatively low, which is ideal for small machines like the MacBook. Air and MacBook Pro 13 and maybe a Mac Mini in the future.

M2 also includes a next-generation secure enclave and an updated neural engine and media engine that supports 8K H.264 and HEVC video. In practice, this means that systems powered by the M2 chip will be able to stream multiple streams of 4K and 8K video simultaneously.

Who is the Best Between Apple M1 Vs M2

Ultimately, our advice is to buy the fastest Mac you can comfortably afford that fits your work style or size needs. But if you're looking to save money by buying the Mac M1, you're still getting impressive technology for the price. 

The brand stepped things up on the GPU front with the M2. There are now up to ten cores, two more than in the original M1.

The larger cache and increased memory bandwidth will improve graphics performance and promise up to 35 percent better performance at maximum power when compared to the original M1.

The MacBook Air is the first to receive the M2 chip. Wedge shape MacBook Airs has been changed to a thinner profile, and M2-equipped laptops also include MagSafe charging.

The new MacBook Air also has a larger 13.6-inch display, better cameras and 18 hours of battery life. However, Apple claims that the new chip in the 2022 Air outperforms its predecessor by 40 percent.
