Hey Vicigies! Do you know the latest news about the World Championship, aka the World Championship League of Legends 2021? The tournament will tour five cities before grand finals on November 6 played at the Universiade Sports Center in Shenzhen, China, this fall. Riot Games has announced five cities that will host the League of Legends World Championship later this year.
Last year, the tournament was played entirely in Shanghai. A limited number of fans were allowed to attend the grand final due to the presence of COVID-19 restrictions, while the play-in, group stage, quarter-final, and semifinal stages were each played in an environment with no fans present.
The last time the World Championships was played in China under normal conditions was in 2017 (no outbreak of COVID-19 yet), matches were played in Wuhan, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, while the grand final of the event was held in Beijing. The start date for the 2021 League of Legends World Championship anyway actually not announced yet. However, word has it that this world championship event will be held in a venue that can accommodate 60,000 people in the heart of China's fifth largest city this fall. What cities are the 2021 League of Legends World Championships located in? Let's check this out!
1.Shanghai
Shanghai will most likely be chosen as one of the locations for the world championship League of Legends this year because it is located at the Hongqiao World IE Hub, a place where LPL teams usually compete. Shanghai itself, as we know, is the city with the largest population in all of China with a population of 24.8 million. Certainly crowded, please yes!
2.Wuhan
Since the outbreak of the global COVID-19, who doesn't know Wuhan now? In fact anyway, the capital of Hubei province and the largest city in central China, is a highly developed city with a population of more than 19 million people. Then, Wuhan itself is not a new location in the world of League of Legends. In 2017, to be precise, this city hosted Worlds 2017 which was held at the Wuhan Gymnasium. Although, for example, at the end of this year COVID-19 restrictions still valid, this one location certainly gives a sensation 'worried' for the visitors, yes.
3. Chengdu
The next location is Chengdu, which was the location of choice at the end of 2020 for the LPL to hold the All-Star before finally being moved. After investigating, it's not surprising that Chengdu was chosen as one of the preferred locations, because Chengdu has a fairly large multifunctional sports area called the Chengdu Sports Center which can be used as a place to hold Worlds 2021.
Historically, Chengdu was actually the capital of China some time ago, now Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province. Geographically, Chengdu is one of the most populous cities in western China with a population of 18 million. So dense, huh!
4.Qingdao
Named as the city with the largest size in Shandong province, Qingdao, will be the next choice to be the second venue worldchampionship League of Legends 2021. One of them is Guoxin Gymnasium Qingdao, a location that is likely to be the face of China as the host. Geographically and historically, this city located on the coast of the Yellow Sea was occupied by the Germans at some time. It is recorded that Qingdao had a population of 9 million people per year 2014, it seems that now it might be more.
5. Shenzhen
You you know, anyway?! Shenzhen it before was just an ordinary fishing village before it was transformed into a futuristic concept metropolis in southern China. The reason is, there are lots of skyscrapers equipped with sophisticated technology at this location! Geographically, this city which borders Hong Kong has a population of more than 23 million people. As previously discussed, Riot Games has previously announced Shenzhen as the first location as well as the location for the 2021 Worlds Final, to be precise at the Universiade Sports Center which has a capacity of more than 60 thousand seats. Wow, so more ga patient want to watch, here!
