After entering the social menu, check the people who recently followed you in the "Followers" menu. Find the account you want to add as a friend, then click follow.

If you are already friends with each other, there will be a notification indicating if your friend or you are online at Mobile Legends.

So you can directly invite each other without asking whether your friends are online or offline in the game.
