Through a document which was uploaded to the Instagram account @fmwcindonesia, Microsoft Excel World Championship Indonesia Stage (EWCIS) is a Microsoft Excel Esports tournament for all Microsoft Excel users in Indonesia.
The EWCIS Esports Tournament is organized by PT. Pos Properti Indonesia in collaboration with the Financial Modeling World Cup.
Officially, this tournament will be held from 5 – 13 October 2024 for the qualifying round located at Point Arena, Jakarta.
As the name suggests, this tournament will use Microsoft Excel, a software that allows users to process and calculate numerical data (numbers).
For your information, this tournament is an important qualifying round for the Microsoft Excel World Championship 2024 held by the Financial Modeling World Cup (FMWC) at the HyperX Esports Arena, Las Vegas, United States.
Not just an ordinary Esports tournament, it turns out that this tournament has had more than 800 thousand viewers and has become the world's spotlight because of its uniqueness and innovation.
The broadcasting rights for the Microsoft Excel World Championship are held by YouTube and Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN).
Participants will solve various cases or problems that must be solved using Microsoft Excel AVERAGE, VLOOKUP and SUM formulas.
In this tournament, there is one qualifying round, namely the semi-final and grand final rounds, later the 8 best players will compete directly.
Financial Modeling World Cup (FMWC) is a series of monthly competitions in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel held since 2020 by Andrew Grigolyunovich, CFA, MFM.

Participant Categories, Championship Chart and Schedule
For the Microsoft Excel World Championship Indonesia (MEWCI) there are several categories that will be competed in the qualifying round, semifinals and grand final.
This match will be held online and offline at Point Arena, Jakarta and later the winner will be the representative of Microsoft Excel World Championship 2024 at HyperX Esports Arena, Las Vegas, United States.
The following are the categories, championship flow and registration timeline up to the Grand Final round which will be explained below:
Participant Categories
For registration itself, it will start in August to October 4, 2024. Of course, there are several categories available, namely:
- Rookie: Category for students from all academic programs and universities, including Bachelor (S1/D3), Masters (S2) and Doctorate (S3);
- Professional: Category for pre-professionals, including corporate employees who frequently use Microsoft Excel on a daily basis;
- State-owned Enterprises: Category for representatives or employees of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) of the Republic of Indonesia.
Championship Chart
The Championship Chart or qualifying round of the Microsoft Excel World Championship Indonesia includes registration to the grand final round according to category.
Where participants who have successfully passed the registration will then enter the qualifying round which will leave 8 finalists.
Of the 8 finalists, there will be further selection until there are 3 participants left for the Professional and BUMN categories, while for the Rookie category there will be 2 participants left.
In the Grand Final round, the eight finalists from the Rookie, Professional and BUMN categories will be combined to produce the winner of MEWCI 2024 who will be sent to Las Vegas, United States to compete again on December 2-4, 2024.
