Three years later, in 2018 Activision also appointed Stefano Solima as director. With the plan, this cinematic will be released in 2019.

The most likely first reason is that Activision is worried film adaptation what they worked on failed to meet the target audience. The Call of Duty game does have many fans.

However, that doesn't mean that when adapting it for the big screen the film will be as successful as the video game. Of course the Call of Duty film will compete fiercely with other action films released in 2019.

To present an action film with good quality, of course it will require a lot of resources. Meanwhile, Activision also has to focus on developing other top games which will definitely require the same large budget.

So it is felt that the making of the Call of Duty film will not run optimally and will not be able to compete with action films released in 2019.

This second reason is not just a rumor, information regarding the cancellation of Call of Duty production for the big screen came from Stefano Sollima.

In an interview session in 2020, the director said to Badtaste.it that Activision Blizzard decided not to continue with the idea of making a Call of Duty series. The reason was that the Call of Duty movie was not a company priority at that time.

Many Call of Duty fans are disappointed with Activision Blizzard's decision. Many fans believe that if the Call of Duty game is produced on the big screen, it will definitely be a big success.

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world has greatly affected the continuity of the film industry. This setback is not without reason, during the pandemic many cinemas around the world had to close temporarily.

Even though they are allowed to open, many people prefer to stay at home rather than travel. This has influenced people's interest in accessing public places such as cinemas.

It is possible that Activision Blizzard also took into account the worst possibility when it had to release the Call of Duty movie during the ongoing pandemic.

Not to mention the rules regarding social restrictions imposed in various countries which also hinder the progress of the film production process.
